I think the latest boss encounter in the game was the hamfisted asian saboteur. Earth was a long Wily's Castle of reaper class enemies... but there wasn't anything that was the conventional final boss battle. ME1 had Saren, ME2 had a giant Terminator. ME3 had... two banshees you had to whittle down before the interactive object popped up?

They probably didn't give one since the baby reaper was so poorly received and they didn't want a gimmick to ruin the ending for people. Lol, guess that didn't turn out too well.

Yeah, Kai Leng was more or less the last 'boss fight'. I, personally, don't care much for boss fights, and the Missile Truck scene was tough because of the numerous tier-3 enemies at the same time, making it a tough fight in itself.

It was the Catalyst, and not one single player can lay claim to defeating it. It defeated us all with it's uber weapon, "dialogue of dissapointment".

Actually, I think the final boss, the absolutely last thing you shot at, was a Marauder.

The Illusive Man, obviously. I was actually really happy the studio had the last boss "fight" in a conversation. That said, the payoff for the entire trilogy was ****.

^-- This.

Timmy as the final boss was great.

It was what came after that I take issue with.

I'm going to be honest, I probably had more trouble with the wave of Banshees than I would have with a single final boss. But really, I'm 100% okay with the fact that there wasn't one. There was just a final level, and the idea of the game sacrificing conventional gaming tropes (final bosses) to allow for a better storytelling experience sits perfectly fine with me. I think it ended up being better than it would have WITH one, actually.

The last boss fight was the ending. I think it was overpowered.

I hated all those stupid Banshees in the Earth part. Banshees + Brutes = hell.

But yeah, in all honesty I'd probably say Kai Leng was the boss fight, even though he wasn't as difficult to defeat as those freaking Banshees.
