@MPsai - I think it was supposed to be a choice between liara and the vs. back when people were questioning squad selection control. Would have been hard to choose for me as well, but that'd have added a lot of emotion and drama, and established leng as a brutal killer.

I will say this for KL though, he certainly knows how to troll Shepherd.

As soon as I read that message from KL in the email after Thesia, I was fuming with rage!

I would have rather had it be a fight between Shepard in Kai Leng in the form of interrupts, the quick time events of Mass Effect, that was you could have each pull off some epic **** (related to Shepard's class and abilities of course) but still fail. The end where Shepard broke his sword and Killed Kai Leng with the Omni Blade could have stayed of course.

The assassins were very much out of place, they made 0 sense in the Mass Effect Universe.. I thought I was playing Dues Ex for the final bit of the game.. I was happy to finally shove my blade through his heart though. Bastard killed Thane (even though he was dying anyway).

As an idea I was kinda pleased with the way they handled the assassins.  They were completely random and unneccessary, but the thought process behind how they worked in that form of combat into the universe in a relatively believeable manner was interesting.

I do find the fact that they introduced the first melee-weapon-wielding (not counting fists) enemy in the same game they introduced omni-tool-weapons a little weird.  Kinda like....why the hell aren't they using omni-tools themselves.

I could say he was poorly writen but then i have to evaluate his purpose.

All in all, after Thessia, I hated his guts...and immediately saw a purpose for ONE of my squad mates to carry around a shoulder mounted SAM every where they went. Oh boo hoo, it slows you down, SUCK IT UP.

That whole fight pissed me off, it was so dreadfully scripted... "Shoot out the supports, I know in advance it will give me the upper hand!"

*sigh*

Aside from the endings, I guess Kai Leng was the worst part of ME3.

That would have been particularly hard for me if it was between Liara and someone else since Liara is my Shep's LI.

It would have been...ugly for me.  Liara wasn't my LI, but Tali was...and they were both there.  Either way would have been horrid.  And thats why it should have been done if they wanted a moment to crush Shepard's determination.  Simply having the floor shot out from under you by a gunship is not compelling.  Especially when practically nothing changes because of it.

Yeah having Shepard just pout about being beaten was kind of weird. I chose to believe it's because Leng is an amature punk and my Shepard was acting a bit crotchety.

Yeah, Kai Leng is a ****ty assassin and a ****ty character. If that fight was at the time Shepard and Thane met, Thane would've ripped out Leng's heart and shoved it down his throat.

Leng was my least favorite "new" character introduced in the game.

For one thing Troy Baker is his VA. For such good voice talent, it is sad to see it wasted on a character like Leng.

The stuff I heard about Leng in Deception made him more of a joke before I ever saw him. When I first saw him I unintentionally laughed. The visor...the ponytail...the black outfit...

That guy was trying waaaay too hard to be a bad ass. A character's image can definately help set the overall tone of a character, but I'd rather see their actions describe who they are. Leng is a crappy assassin, and even worse he is a cry baby about it. He rubs it in Shep's face in a troll email.

I bet he plays alot of online shooters...

But really there isn't much that makes Leng an imposing figure. He beat Thane barely and the man was dying. He is teased for a second early on Mars with TIM, but other than that there is no build up to meeting this deadly assassin. You are instead told after the encounter by Anderson of how dangerous he is. So again it has been more hearing about a character as opposed to seeing him.

I just accepted him as a over inflated egotistic bad assassin and I was very happy to renegade interrupt him.

Kai Leng is like the sewer spiders in RE2. He was clearly here for a reason, but we just point a laugh at this stupid **** because that's all he really is. I cracked up when I first saw him and actually wondered why my Shepard didn't just shoot the sword-carrying space-ninja in the Citadel. I mean really, I've shot through the eye-slots of riot-shields with the chakram launcher.

This prissy, pony-tailed idiot is everything that's wrong with typical sci-fi. Space-ninjas...

It's sad. He reminded me of Adam Jensen from Deus Ex:HR only bad. 

I have to say though, they did a great job of making me hate him. After Thane died, I wanted to tear out his implants with my bare hands. But the renegade stabbing him thing worked nicely too.

Round 1 Citadel: Kai Leng the Assassin from Cerberus rebuilt with several upgrades vs Thane the terminally ill drell assassin.

R1: Kai Leng wins by stabbing the terminally ill Drell.

Round 2 Thessia: Kai Leng and a Cerberus Gunship vs Shepard and two squadmates of his choice.

R2: Gunship gives the victory for his team by ring out.

Round 3 Cerberus Base: Kai Leng and several Cerberus Soldiers vs Shepard and EDI and a squadmate of choice.

R3: Shepard's team wins by taking out everybody even avoiding a cheapshot in the end.

I don't like to see that just because I feel that the ME3 endings were cut and paste from HR.

After Mordin was offed I kinda just...realized that maybe Bioware wasn't going to acknowledge the fact that I wanted ME2 characters to live. Thane's death wasn't too surprising since the assassin clearly had plot armor the moment he's introduced.

Barely beating a near dead drell is hardly a feat. And he never beat Shep in a fight. He had a helicoptor blow the ground restraints in order to get the Catalyst and then run like a bish.

Kai Leng was the embodiment of Ghost in the Shell and Metal Gear Solid, only in a bad way. If you ever saw some poor chap trying to run BF3 on his Intel HD Graphics Accelerator, basically that's how I felt after seeing him face-to-face.

I was expecting more when I saw his silhouette next to TIM, damnit.

first off he wasnt just any drell. he is one of the best assasins ever so yea it is a big deal ill or not


as far as the thessia deal go's. its called strategy and smart on kai lengs part seeing as shepard had two othe rpeople with him

That's another element that made more sense when Leng had a squademate bodycount.
