uhg I loved KL, he's was such a troll with that letter, tho i wish there was more info on him. /didnt read the books so he was all kinds of new to me.

/off topic, but does anyone have a link to the leaked scrip where it would explain why my Shep was so pissy after the Asari home world? because the way things are, it kinda doesn't fit at all.

Maybe if he was an assassin like Thane was, using guns and hand to hand combat instead of the sword, and if I remember Retribution correctly he used guns and knives and whatever it took to finish the job (also a spoon if what I heard about Deception is true).
I'm just going to say that the Reapers were trolling with indoctrination by making him be a space ninja.

He got sloppy when Liara stated that the scientists had their throats slit and Shepard was like 'lol whatevs' adding to the military protocol barrier could have tipped him off. Then he wasn't strong enough to beat Kai Leng and had the Prothean VI stolen, when he was about to learn what the catalyst was and end the war before the Reapers could do any more damage. He thought that they had lost and they couldn't find Cerberus, all because he screwed up.
I'd be pissy too.

This quote with your avatar... so much win.

It's like Thane overheard him and was like "You what? <_<"

Round 1 Citadel: Kai Leng the Assassin from Cerberus rebuilt with several upgrades vs Thane the terminally ill drell assassin.

R1: Kai Leng wins by stabbing the terminally ill Drell.

Round 2 Thessia: Kai Leng and a Cerberus Gunship vs Shepard and two squadmates of his choice.

R2: Gunship gives the victory for his team by ring out.

Round 3 Cerberus Base: Kai Leng and several Cerberus Soldiers vs Shepard and EDI and a squadmate of choice.

R3: Shepard's team wins by taking out everybody even avoiding a cheapshot in the end.

XD  As much as Kai Leng pissed me off for cutting (or stabbing, I should say ) Thane's romance off ridiculously short, the omniblade to the gut and him QQing like a girl when Shep taunts him almost made it worth it.

Almost. . .

Thaaane :crying:

Really i think people give him too much credit saying he beat Shepard. He didnt beat shepard, a dang gunship beat shepard, he was losing pretty badly to Shepard.

He scared me =0, oh and he did beat Thane AND shepard. he won on thessia, remember?

Barely beating a near dead drell is hardly a feat. And he never beat Shep in a fight. He had a helicoptor blow the ground restraints in order to get the Catalyst and then run like a bish.

first off he wasnt just any drell. he is one of the best assasins ever so yea it is a big deal ill or not

as far as the thessia deal go's. its called strategy and smart on kai lengs part seeing as shepard had two othe rpeople with him

Actually pay attention to the plot next time. Thane was dying. Pro assassin or not he was ill. He even said he was nowhere near to what he was before(during his time in ME2). And even condemned Kai for his skills because of it. Kai beating him is not a big deal, and hardly a feat.

As for Thesia? We were talking about a straight up fight. Learn to read the whole post before replying.

well first, lots of people have access to knives. Shep has one on his omni tool, for instance, thats not something that sets off alarms.
I just feel like shep wouldnt be so rage quit depressed about it, is all.

The first draft for Thessia involved a longer defense of the temple itself from some kind of joint onslaught of Cerberus and Reapers.

There's some kind of conflict with the Virmire Survivor over Prothean stuff. (this bit got moved to the Udina Coup, it would seem.)

Kai Leng shows up and kicks all kinds of butt. The supports break as before, and when the dust settles Shepard has to crawl in-gameplay accross a collapsing floor with a piece of alien rebar visibily lodged into his back. He has the strength to crawl over and assist one of his squaddies (someone earlier said it was a choice between VS and Liara) -- the other gets murdered execution style as Kai flies off, Prothean stuff in hand.

I think I deleted all my leak bookmarks when the game shipped. I'll try and find the old source.

He'd gain a couple pounds if he had to steal food everytime he was about to attempt and kill Shep. :o

It'd be neat if EDI mentioned something about missing provisions each time, though.

Yes that was in the leaks.

aside from the emotions, which would have been awesome, not having him actually kill anyone on screan totally ripped the balls off their 'bad**** assassin'

My Shepard was PO'd at Garrus for not sniping the gunship on Thessia. She was all like, "Oh, sure, when it's your scaly silver butt on the line, you can one shot a gunship, but when the fate of the galaxy is at stake, you hide behind a church pew." Except she took it out on poor joker.

That's my story, and I'm sticking too it.

Seriously though. Kei Leng was a complete punk. I did enjoy shoving my omniblade through his chest though. Honestly, any decent assassin would have just rigged a bomb and had Udina show up ten minutes late to a council meeting. When the bomb goes off, killing the council, that's the signal for the start of the coup.

I guess I could think of some ways it might've been done better, but I love that Shepard has to bounce back from a devastating loss. It comes a little late to be a classic "darkest hour" second act, but all the same I think it functions magnificently as such. I'm really impressed by how fully realized a character Shepard is in this game.

Well, Drew Karpshyn introduced him in Mass Effect: Retribution and he was incredibly ruthless and good, but not great. Hell he got beaten by Kahlee Sanders and Anderson in the book. He was an interesting character. (I don't mention Mass Effect: Deception since the person who wrote that screwed the pooch on cannon.)

Personally it would have been great if Drew would have stuck with Mass Effect 3 and finished off something he wrote incredibly well. (Mind you this is the same guy who was the lead writer for ME1, and co-lead writer for 2.)

He looked like som damn anime hero. He felt so out of place in the game, that it annoyed the heck out of me. Running about with a sword, dodging bullets being fired from 5 feet away. Yeah...right.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with Kai Leng. Cyborg ninjas are a very exhausted and overused concept, IMO.

I'm sort of on the fence. He's something new in the universe which is good and bad. Remember, Thane was the most successful assassin ever. He's gone toe to toe with countless enemies. To him, killing wasn't a job, it was an art. The fact that he stopped Kai Leng just tells me he's awesome. Still, it would have been better if Kai had shown up on Mars or Sur'kesh, and if he actually killed one of your squad on Thessia, that would make him dangerous. Why Bioware didn't run with that is beyond me.

Some people don't like his acrobatic flashiness, but I think it fits well with the character and my Shep identified that as his weakness. Kai is arrogant and theatrical, he wants to kill you just as much as he wants to show off, and my Shepard exploited that by shooting him while he flipped around. And I just happened to finish him with a punch. Nice shot Shep. If Kai had gone straight for the kill, maybe he could've succeeded, but his arrogance defeats him.

Then how come Thane can`t hit a target 5 feet away, on several tries?

I wouldn't say he's the worst assassin ever, he's pretty badass in the books and he would've taken out Miranda had Shepard not warned her. But yeah considering he's cybernetically enhanced, a near dying Thane nearly beats him, and that's something he would be ashamed about.

Kai Leng, in the game, is a horrible character that is forced onto the player as an antagonist and nemesis because...because he was in the books or something, and because he has a sword. And he's a ninja. Which is cool. Or summin'. I guess.

I dislike the very design of the character but I mean, if they had to throw him into the game then I could have overlooked how cheesy he is if they at least set the character up in a better way.
Don't assume I give a damn about the books.

What really pisses me off is Thane is fighting Kai Leng, Shepard just watches and doesn't help even though Thane is sick and dying....
