I just thought I'd like to address everyone's thoughts in a request for a public statement from Bioware regarding the ending of Mass Effect 3.

This public statement would not be required to release any specific details on your plans to combat your fans' opinions. This statement would be required to confirm or deny said plans to address the public outrage exist, and would be required to confirm or deny that said plans are being actively addressed.

Those two requirements are in place to remove any doubt concerning the existence of plans to reconcile your long-standing relationship with your fans, yet simultaneously allow you to not immediately announce what these plans involve.

It is recommended that this proposed announcement would be available to the public by Monday, March 12th at noon EST. This date and time allows the European fan-base to properly play and experience the current ending without the chance of having it spoiled directly or indirectly through any statements made in your announcement.

Sincerely, 98% of your vocal fan-base (32,500 and counting).

Please "+1" or "bump" this thread to show your support for an official statement from Bioware. We need to get something from them soon, or else it will be miserable for everyone.

I'm fully in favor of this, but everyone needs to realize that this isn't happening anytime soon. Bioware addressing this issue at all brings more attention to the issue, and WILL impact sales.

hhmm... impact sales, you say?

might be we'll get their attention a bit better if this comes back to hit them in their purse.

The fact that pre-order sales are good (as they should be, since they did everything to get our hopes up) and the fact that the game launched this week should tell you its too early for an apology or a promise of DLC.

Critics are praising the game and they're making money with it. Let's just see how long it lasts and what their move will be down the road. For now, we just have to support one another ;_;

I'm sure Bioware is getting a little tired of their fans ridiculous demands all the time.  And Bioware listens to and cares about their fans more than any other company I've seen. After spending countless hours and resources making something to please you, people still demand that they spend more countless hours and resources to make something to fix it how they want it.

It worked for Fallout 3 which had a rediculous ending as well. :wizard:

It will definately be a game of timing if thay're mainly interested in profits. How long do they wait? If they wait too long, the current fans will discredit them to their friends (or rather, continue to). If they don't wait long enough, they will possibly inadvertantly talk potential buyers out of buying it. That's why I suggested monday. It's a good amount of time to gain sales from the poor unexpecting fans, while not too long to have word of a bad ending spread too far.

Hopefully they will realize, the sooner they announce the issue is being addressed, the sooner they will reclaim some of their integrity.

I'd argue that they actually went against pleasing the fans by building up the LI relationships, the chances of overcoming the odds, and choices mattering...hell, the past 2 games, all to take it away in the end to further their story and their vision (which, if you want to get technical, changed during the process with the writers).

Someone said it really well in another thread, but games are a new medium and there is that line between showing your vision and your story (like a film or a book) and letting people into that world to interact with it (in a game).

I guess what I'd have to say is: they should have known better. I don't think this game was designed to please the fans; I think it was designed to bring new players in through GoW style combat and multiplayer, as well as the whole Action mode business.

They should known the endings would get this reception. Nevermind the actual events of the endings, there was zero explanation for anything, no real epilogue, the normandy crash was forced and there is no known reason for why the normandy was even where it was.

Squadmates being teleported back to the normandy somehow, circular reaper logic.

The endings were just plain poorly written and executed. Bioware could of, and have, done much much better.

I believe someone said they are hearing the complaints. But hearing and listening are two different things.

Mass Effect 3 reminds me of No Country For Old Men, its epic untill the last 5 mins then its a giant WTF. I would love to see a response from Bioware but I doubt it will happen.

I agree with this too. BioWare has kept their mouths shut long enough. This warrants a response, polls with over 15,000 votes against the ending aren't meaningless and threads with almost 800 pages of complaints have to be addressed.

Bump

We'll hear plenty of silence until they're ready to speak...I wonder if there's a mob forming outside Bioware right now...dibs on a pitchfork.

Just be patient, it's still the weekend. I'm guessing Bioware will make a statement sometime this week though. Should be interesting to hear what they say.

LOL you expect bioware to learn from kerberos productions and actually communicate properly with the fans/community? I doubt they say one word until a month or two down the road when they are ready to push dlc for 3. profit!

That implies that they'll listen to us before they get the sales. They won't.

That said, I'd really like some kind of apology statement.

I'm sure they are either too busy counting their profits or busy consulting their lawyers before making statements.

Bioware better move fast. It won't be too long before the positive reviews on gaming websites are replaced with articles detailing fan outrage on Bioware's lack of regard for them.

Bioware won't make a statment unless the ending tanks sales, which it won't, so that EA is forced to step in and twist their arm. Bioware's stated before that they don't cater to fans, they make the games THEY want to see.
