For MotB & SoZ crafting, can you use a scroll for adding enhancements?

SoZ crafting requires that the crafter or someone else in the party have the spell and is able to cast it. Having the spell on a scroll is not sufficient. When the crafting is done the spell will be removed from a party member (specifically in this case limited to either the crafter or someone owned by the crafter).

Adding to Kaldor's post ...
In SOZ sometimes the spell is spent and sometimes it isn't. It's quirky, but by the explanation in the manual it's not supposed to spend the spell. In any case, scrolls aren't accounted for.
As for MOTB, I don't know for sure but I doubt any scrolls would be useful because they don't have the high Caster Levels required. Maybe some of the low-level 1 Or 2 Brilliant Essence enchantments could be done, but why bother?
.....
It sounds like you're trying to get Safiya to add Acid Damage to a weapon - but she can't use those scrolls in any case.
I am reminded of some new player who posted here last year lamenting that Sand couldn't whip up those cool Acid weapons. I replied something to the effect of "I have some bad news for you ... well, you'll see for yourself soon enough."

The spell removal is clearly attempted in the SoZ script, but there is no check for the success of removing it. The check for the spell checks everyone in a faction, but the removal excludes some party members. So it is possible that the check will succeed, allowing the casting, but the spell removal will be bypassed. What manual says that a spell is not supposed to be spent when crafting?

Take the SOZ original paper manual, for example. For Craft Woundrous Item, we have:
"Using this feat to craft magical items requires several things: a magical workbench, a magic item recipe, and the ingredients/skills listed within the recipe. Each recipe is unique and possesses its own requirements, but any party members can supply these - including ingredients, caster level, or skill rank minimums. ... If all the ingredients are present, the minimum skill ranks are met, and the crafting player is within 10 meters of a magician's workbench, the items will be crafted."
The other feats are all similar. No spells are actually mentioned one way or the other beyond caster level. Perhaps that and the fact that so many craftings never used up a spell led me to read more into it than was there. It could certainly be that expending a spell was intended to be equivalent to using up a mithral or timber or what have you.

I've certainly never had any spells decremented when crafting in SoZ. I don't recall any of the SoZ recipes mentioning the need for a spell either. This website seems to confirm that spells aren't necessary when enchanting items (which is most of the crafting I tend to do).

The SoZ crafting system was designed to allow requiring spells and if a spell was required would remove it from a party member, however it so happens that none of the SoZ recipes require a spell.

I have used the expanded SOZ crafting on NWVault since the day it first showed up. Many of those recipes do require a spell, and like I said it is hit-and-miss whether it will be spent or not.
