I'm not using logging mode, I'm using package mode but there's still red lines around the Texmod window. Also when in game, the mouse just floats around.

Then im out of help im afraid for ya :(

Nvm it seems like it's not texmod causing this, but there's a problem with the game. Ugh...

That dosent sound right.

ok, i have kept an eye on this topic to see how it works out for others. but im still a bit confused, so i hope someone can make things clear for me. sorry but i was never really good with this kind of stuff.

so does it mean i have/can download and install the tool 1.4 only in to this folder Mass Effect 3 \\Binaries \\ Win32. , and then install every single HR in to it?
and with this tool alone (without the HR files) i can adjust pretty much the graphics for the game?

Just wondering guys, sorry for sounding like a noob but I haven't got a straight answer from anywhere :S Using texmod can't get you banned in multiplayer? Say if I downloaded the hi-res reapers mod, that would make the reapers hi-res in multiplayer but surely origin doesen't ban for that? Thank you

I would STRONGLY advise not to try and use this mod for multiplayer since you know, you have to be ONLINE to use multiplayer and it doesn't matter if you have gameplay feedback turned off. You are still on their servers. If Origin detects that's been tampered with you will be banned even if its just textures to make the game more appealing.

I believe one Bioware employee said that and then clarified that unless you mess with multiplayer, you won't be banned.

IMPORTANT: If any character is completely black, increase its priority in the list of Texmod.
I do not know the cause, but this seems to fix it.

*shrug* I play offline and have back ups of my original files if I decide to hop on multiplayer. Whatever is accurate, it doesn't hurt to be cautious.

Need some advice on texture I'm working on. I'm finishing up the Torso of the femshep default armour. How does it look to you guys? The left chest area is almost completed and then I'm moving on the the right.

@Smarteck: I hope you don't mind but I used some of the textures from your broshep armour.

Right click to enlarge

Should I find a smoother metal texture for the torso? I'd really appreciate some input

I have no problem. Remember that the most important textures are orange.
From black and white texture, if I mistake not, just get the column.

Lol I've been on multiplayer since day 1 with a modified Coalesced.ini....i find it funny that non modders always feel like they have to speak on authority over something they aren't even knowledgeable in.

deadly shot JDH asked a question and I answered it the best I could from the info I was able to gather. I have read people getting banned for using a modified Coalesced and just Origin being real picky hence why I do this stuff offline.

MACharlie1 replied and set it straight without an attitude so I don't see what your problem is. Moving on.

Why are the orange parts important?

Also I can't decide whether I should continue making the armour look weathered and scratched up or brand new and smooth.

Because of these textures with orange color, is where the game draws most of the image to be applied to the armature. :D

If you wouldn't mind, could you put the Recon Hood onto your list of textures that you are working on?

Honestly IMO it's the coolest looking head piece. If it's possible do you know if there is a way to add the lights back down near the chin like it was in Mass Effect 2? I don't expect them to light up when he talks like they did, just feels wrong with them missing.

Just a hypothetical question here: I play the console versions, but if I were to get this for PC and use the texture mods, would my laptop be able to handle it? My graphics card is only a GeForce GT 540M with 1GB dedicated VRAM, I know I can play all three ME games on the highest settings without issue, but I don't know if these mods would kill it.

I'm running an Asus ROG G74Sx laptop with GTX 560M, 3GB VRAM.  I loaded every HR texture Smarteck has done including his latest EDI and my Mantis Sniper Rifle HR texture and the total time it takes from loadup to the Bioware splash screen was 34 seconds.  The game ran smooth as silk.

Since you have 1GB VRAM, IMO, you would have no problems but probably best not to run all the textures at once but rather load the applicable textures that you know would apply to the area of the game you are going to play.

That's great to hear, thanks!
Jealous of your setup, by the way :P

I try to locate the file of lighting, but no luck.
With EDI was more simple to find that layer. Shepard's armor was not the same.
Sorry.

But, thanks for the idea. ;)

Just another question guys I had to use the Texmod workaround:

'Open the folder with your MassEffect3.exe and drag it to the desktop.

Paste a 'copy' of your Textmod.exe into the folder that had the MassEffect3.exe.

Rename your Texmod.exe to MassEffect3.exe.

Open Origin and run Mass Effect 3, this will open up Textmod. (You can now minimize Origin)

Go back to the folder where you renamed Texmod.exe and replace it with the original MassEffect3.exe from your desktop.

Now you can use Textmod :)'

I did all this and it worked but then I quit the game and tried launching mass effect 3 without using texmod to run it and all textures are back to normal. I repeated the fix and the texture mods worked again. So my question is do I have to repeat the work around every time I want to use these mods?
Also is there a way to save the tpf files you downloaded because whenever I go back into texmod they're gone and I have to add them again? Thank you for any help you can give guys :)!

You need to do that process every time you use texmod.

Ok thanks, I think I understand it all now :) On another note I noticed someone retextured the n7 hoodie, now I have an idea/request for an n7 hoodie retexture, is there anyone that can turn the trousers into jeans instead of alliance combat trousers, would look much better imo :)!

@deadly shot

Yeah, you have to do the process of name and re-name files to use texmod. Instead of having to do that every time I use a batch file that automatically does it for me and is much faster.
