Hey guys, just wanted to say that V3 of the HR project is now out.

Download Link

It includes smarteck's HR versions of Garrus and Javik's default armours. Also fixes the black texture issues with those models.

The big inclusion with this patch however is the Mod Switcher/ Launcher. It's a separate program that lets you switch between different versions of the mod for each character with the click of a button. There's also a built in system that lets you launch the game from within the program, with or without Texmod. That is, it will automatically perform the same function as the batch file. Here's a sample screenshot:
Posted Image

You just flick between the tabs at the top to find all the different mods (there are also different pictures on all the different pages). It will also make a shortcut on the desktop if you want, so that you can easily automate the game launching process.

Anyway, let me know what you think about it. I'll be interested to here from you. Also, I was thinking about making a new thread to move any discussions to there and so I can bump it whenever I release a new version. Tell me your thoughts guys!

Side note for fellow coders: It's kind of bizarre but to get the Origin workaround for Texmod I couldn't do it directly in C#, I had to get it to call a batch file anyway.

EDIT: Oh and if the patch thinks you've already installed the mod just hit continue. To get the switcher working I had to overwrite some of the files I already patched.

New MP mods for you guys tonight, the Geth Infiltrator/Geth Soldier and an update on the N7 Fury. Aside from the GI's complete retexture, he now has legion's eye. It might look kinda weird in the lobby, but in game it has the lens flare so it looks more like a normal geth. I've also added the Geth Armory logo as part of his pattern layer so it will change colors with the rest of his patterns and I can upload a non-Geth Armory version if someone wants it.

For Fury, i made a brand new normal map for her and fixed the scarring on the material on the back of her arms and between her legs.

Wait, I can switch models in game. Without Texmod.

I can pick between skins if I prefer one over another (assuming later implementation)?

Whoaaaa. You like, done did blow my mind.

As for new thread: might be a good idea to try it. If it doesn't work out you could always just put it back in this thread.

Well, I doubt you could switch the models in game. But prior to starting the game you can certainly do it. Of course, it'd be a fairly rare occurrence that I would add multiple versions of a single mod since it doubles the workload, but the system's there if I want it.

Right, right. It's cool the system works that way.

Thanks for all your hard work Salt. Will help prevent me from blowing up my system from overtaxing it. : V

This is RAD. This actually makes me wanna continue my Insanity PT.

But it won't convince me I guess, personal stuff blah blah ._.

Either way I can imagine how awesome this manager is, and wish I could go back in time with it.

Insanity isn't all that difficult until you get to the Priority Earth mission. Then it gets pretty crazy in spots. I used Ashley's Marksman power and the M-76 Revenant for most of the game. I ran out of ammunition constantly with just about everything else. The Marksman power makes the Revenant useful at longer ranges and compensates for recoil which are it's two greatest failings. Aside from that you just need to bring squad members who cover for your Shepard's weaknesses. You have to manage them more closely as well. As an example: If you use a soldier you'll need a biotic such as Kaiden/Liara/Javik and Ashley/Garrus for dealing damage or Vega if you need a tank. EDI is nearly worthless on Insanity. You can use her for some crowd control but she's probably the most fragile of all the squad mates. Tali is really only good on missions against the Geth which frankly force you to take her anyway. Aside from that I wouldn't use her too much on Insanity.

On another note, I'm making a little headway with Ashley's dark edition. For whatever reason I can't get the helmet to show up the right color. It now appears blue'ish gray. Following Smartek's advice and duplicating that proceedure about 100 times has produced the same result. I'm starting to think the issue is something with Photoshop. It does after all have issues with .DDS files such as normal maps. Though I've normally been able to work around it's shortcomings.

Getting back to work on the Kasa Fabrication armor today.

I took the Arc Pistol to Priority Earth on Insanity.

Yeah...was rather terrible. Spent a lot of time hiding next to a combat drone.

I think the hardest part is the bit where you wait for the shuttle, I wasn't able to do it without the Cain.

There are two tricks to that part. Grab the first M-920 Cain and don't miss. Then grab the second M-920 Cain and take out the Banshee with it. After that it's pretty easy. The Arc pistol is pretty terrible against everything but Geth. I don't use it outside of the Geth missions. The worst part is defending the missile truck. The Banshee's are what make that part suck. Even Brute's aren't that bad to deal with if you have the right tools. Which for me means using the Black Widow with armor piercing and an extended barrel. Hit them with it three times, tap adrenaline rush and that will top off your ammunition without a reloading animation. Then hit the thing two or three other times.

Technically the Valiant out DPS'es the Black Widow but the Black Widow is far better against armored targets. And under adrenaline rush the recoil is basically nothing. Recoil is one of two reasons why the Valiant out DPS'es it and you can mitigate one with quick scoping and adrenaline rush.

Just got to tweak the arms a bit on the Kasa Fabrication set and do the legs. The legs should actually be fairly simple.

I was playing an engineer on Insanity (good times). You are completely right about the M-920 Cain bit - if you get that right, the worst part _is_ the truck. Over and over I kept getting zoned into a corner and then my crew got picked up and stabbed. I should have taken a more effective weapon - couldn't do enough DPS /w arc pistol and GPS.

I took the Arc Pistol because it was a gift from Tali and I thought, "Oh, it'd be sentimental to take it to the final mission." Then I used it and realized she had given me a defective piece of junk that wasn't even able to damage cannibals before they regenerated. Daro'Xen must have made it from like glue and toothpicks or something.

Anyway, it's nowhere near as bad as that segment in ME2 - the beginning of the collector ship mission. _That_ was stupid hard. Or scions, where they'd shockwave you to death. Ugh.

Neat about the Kassa Fabrication. Those individual armor sets have to be a lot of work.

Yes, the individual armor sections are the worst. Each section can potentially be as bad as any single armor for Shepard or squad mates. Fortunately most do not have their own helmet and thus you've only got four pieces to do. Arms, chest, legs, and shoulders. Shoulders are usually the easiest part as there is nothing to them. The chest is generally the worst followed by arms and then legs. Though the hardest part was getting it to match the style of Smartek's default N7 armor. He did some interesting things with the lightmap and I had to figure out exactly how to accomplish what he did. Once I figured it out things went a lot smoother. I had to play mix and match games with the default N7 armor and the Kasa fabrication set to make sure they went well together.

Working on the light map for the legs. Once that's done the normal map won't take long, I'll test it and then upload it. So I'm hoping to have that done today.

Marauder Shields always kills me on Insanity lol
Are all the part based armors going to be done at some point? I like Serrice and Armax, well anything that doesn't mash my boobs into a man shape.

I would like to have all Shepard's outfits done at some point. Whether or not that actually happens is another matter entirely. I used to put out a couple mods a week. Now I'm lucky to do one a week or so. I work about 65 hours a week on average and that eats up a lot of time.

GS9 - I was a bit iffy on the Legion eye at first because I liked the big eye, but the lens flare looks really, really awesome in the actual game. Great job. The version with the pattern is cool looking, but I think I'd like a plain one too.

Kassa armor looking great ingame. Good work, Deat_Meat ^^
Though, the legs still have that... fabric material, which still looks low res compared to the rest of the set. Don't reckon anything can be done to improve it?

Anyway - the armor pieces look smooth and great!

The normal map went a long way toward improving that part. The only other thing that can be done is replacing it entirely. I haven't quite found any texture patterns that worked well enough to do so. Also that would mean remodding the N7 default armor and doing the same to all future armors so that things mixed and matched correctly.
