Cool link, Broey Moween! Image IPB I'm gunna go ahead and jump on the requests bandwagon! Image IPB This might seem like a small thing but could someone make a higher resolution version of Joker's face? I think it must be the small size of the normal map but the texture just looks...stretched somehow...That might not be the right word (English is not my first language! Image IPB Sorry!) but he definately looked better in ME2 and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to extract the normal map from there - let alone to get it working in ME3!

As I said, this might seem little but I would really appreciate it! Image IPB Thanks in advance!

Can someone do me a huge favor and make spec and normal maps for the following diffs that I made for Ashley's armor?

https://skydrive.liv...AEya_x6tHAVneYU

Could someone also please create a spec map for a slightly modified Kaidan helmet?

No worries, Didact2401! Image IPB I had a try at making a normal map for your Ashley armour and helmet (they’re  looking really good so far, btw!) and this is what I came up with:

http://www.filedropp...t3exe0x3864ac0f

and

http://www.filedropp...t3exe0xeaa787ff

If you want one that includes more of the bumps and scratches etc. just let me know! Image IPB

Sadly, I am very terrible at making specular maps Image IPB but I did a little looking around and I found that Dead_Meat’s wonderful spec maps from his Ashley armour also works very well with your texture! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help! Image IPB

No worries! I certainly appreciate the effort. I would do the normal / spec maps myself, but I can't find a good way to do it with GIMP.

I'm hoping someone can help me....I'm receiving an error when attempting to download the Omega .rar archives from MediaFire.

MediaFire wrote....

Split Archive Blocked

The file you attempted to download is an archive that is part of a set of archives. MediaFire does not support unlimited downloads of split archives and the limit for this file has been reached. MediaFire understands the need for users to transfer very large or split archives, up to 10GB per file, and we offer this service starting at $1.50 per month.

We have informed the owner that sharing of this file has been limited and how they can resolve this issue.

Still have questions, or think we've made a mistake? Please contact support for further assistance.

I haven't read through 'all' of the 187 pages of this topic to find an answer, but I did read through quite a bit with no luck. I don't have a Skydrive account either....so is it just one of those files that you have to keep trying to get at different times of the day? Or is there an issue with how large the individual archive files are? BTW - how large are they? Just asking because I'm on satellite internet. I get capped after a certain size limit is exceeded...so knowing how large the archives are I can either download the files with a manager so that doesn't happen.

Thanks for any help!

Hey, TonyTitan – I don’t really know much about this problem but if no one gets around to checking it out before I get home from work I’ll be happy to have a look for you! Image IPB

I also have a question for you guys and I was wondering if someone could maybe help me out? Image IPB As I mentioned above, I have been trying to fix Joker’s face by adding a better normal map...however I have been having a lot of problems with weird lighting.

I thought perhaps it was something that I was doing wrong when creating the normal map but then I tried simply extracting the original file from the game and upsizing it in Photoshop and there was still the same issue! Image IPB Weapon and armour normals don’t seem to be effected by this. The weird lighting problem only occurs when I edit the normals of faces and it is not limited to Joker’s face either! Image IPB

Anyhow, I’ve seen some mods around that contain normal maps of faces and don’t cause this strange problem so I was wondering how this was achieved? Image IPB

Thanks for your time!

I believe it's because CrazyBump was used

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply, peggster! Image IPB Hmm...That’s what I originally thought too, but then I cut CrazyBump out of the equation by:

-Opening the .dds file straight into Photoshop
-Re-sizing it (up from 256x256 to 512x512)
-Re-saving it as a .dds (I also tried saving it as a .jpg then using an external program – DDS Converter – to change it back to a .dds in case it was the NVidia Tools part of Photoshop messing it up!)

...And it still causes weird lighting issues! Image IPB The only guess I have is that the problems are due to changing the size of the file? Maybe it has something to do with ME3’s weird red, yellow and green normal maps? I mean, they open up in Photoshop as the normal purple/blue/pink normal but obviously something is not right...Image IPB

P.S Oh! And thanks for the info about Garrus' Alt Armour (I totally missed that post until now Image IPBlol) it is very good news that Dead_Meat is working on it! When it is done, it should look great! Image IPB

Are you saving it in the correct format when upsizing it? Normal maps have to be saved in DTX5 format.

Normals have to be saved in V8U8 format, which photoshop doesn't support. You need the Direct X SDK.

I've found that saving them in DXT5 format in photoshop and changing the format in Direct X SDK works just as well.

Alternatively, you can use Nvidia's texture tools and nvdxt.

YAY! Image IPB It worked! Thank you so much for all of your help, guys! Image IPB It is odd that I never had trouble with normal map lighting except on faces but I am just very glad that my normal maps look...normal again! Image IPB Haha!

Now to find a way to extract Joker's ME2 normal map...Image IPB

TonyTitan, I had a try of downloading the Omega files and I found no problems with Part 1 (which is ~154MB in size) but I had the same issue as you with Part 2 (which is ~88MB)! Image IPB To my knowledge, Mediafire put a cap on how many times that file could be downloaded and now that limit has been reached. Since you don't have a Skydrive account (I would highly reccomend getting one - it is super useful for acessing archived files when other links go dead! Image IPB) I downloaded Omega Part 2 from Skydrive and put it up here:

http://depositfiles....files/b0je48tn6

I hope that is okay to do, Smarteck? Image IPB If not, please let me know and I will take it down in a hurry! Image IPB

Do Mass Effect 3 textures work for Mass Effect 2 or are they not compatible for various reasons? (Apart from being separate games that is).

The .tpf files (MODs) not work for others games... some textures can be ported to others games but need to change some codes first.

Got them both now!  :)  Thanks so very much for the work that you've put into these HD texture/mods....It's like playing a whole new version of ME3.  Your work is just fantastic.  :D

Will you be doing any retexturing to Ashley?  I'd love to see her blue outfit put into HD.....The one she's wearing when her and Shepard first meet up....just prior to them heading to Mars.  :)

Awesome job none the less....:D
