I was hoping to get a little help, New to this forum, been through pages and PAGES but can't seem to find a tut or help that has worked for me, i posted on another topic, but was told to come check this one out and ask for help here, SO lol.

Does this work on the Trilogy Edition from Origin? I downloaded all the tpf files for Mass Effect 2 (for now so things like grunt 4k and so forth) and trying to get this work with the swap name way for Origin, and it doesn't work.
By doesn't work let me explain a little. Everything goes smooth, the game launches after i've loaded texmod, so texmod loads, then i load the tpf files, i then hit RUN and Mass Effect 2 loads (doesn't crash so that's a start lol) but this is where i can start to tell nothing has worked because the game loads straight away, No black screen while loading, and in game the textures for my squad mates are the same :(, so i don't know what im doing wrong.

So i really wanna run these amazing textures and i should be able to handle them, so if someone could help, tell me what im doing wrong i am happy to help with any information needed.

- You need to change the name of ME2 exe to something else (like .temp) but remember the original names!
-  then you need change the name of Texmod.exe (already in the same folder that ME2 exe file) to the original ME2 exe name
- Then in the ORIGIN WINDOW, open the game ME2 and that will be open Texmod window
- Now you must restart the names of ME2 exe file and Texmod exe file to the original state
- Back to the Texmod window and first in the big folder icon select the original ME2 exe file (all in the folder of the game)
- now press the small folder icon in hte center of Texmod and the select all that .tpf files (mods) you need for your game (you can select a lot of files at the same time droping your mouse over the tpf files and then select open)
- Texmod will add that MODs to the list (if say "not responding".. just wait)
- When all the MODs are in the list just press "RUN" and wait some minutes in black screen to enjoy your game with very cool textures. :D

Also for more easy process, I recomend you create a Batch file for renaming files step. If you need more help, add me to your Origin contacts and in like 13 hours more.. I´ll can help you.

Good luck. ;)

This guy has put tons of textures on one .tpf package, is it possible for us to do the same? For example have all the zona D textures in one .tpf and so on...
Edit: Sorry if I'm sounding like forcing you guys to work on this :P but I have no experience in this field and I was just curious to know if it could be done.

It can be done, but these guys don't really want to as it makes updating them easier.  If you want to do it for your own uses, it's not particularly difficult.

Extract all textures from existing tpfs using tpfextract.  Combine all texmod.def's into one texmod.def, with a text editor (notepad etc).  Run texmod, and go package mode, then select the def file you just created, and done.
You'd have to make sure the paths in the def file were correct of course.

EDIT: I'm not speaking for them (I don't know their actual opinions). I'm just assuming, from experience, and lurking :P

EDIT: Figured it out, i was modifying the WRONG exe, there is masseffect2.exe and ME2Game.exe, i was modifying the masseffect2.exe, and that must of been the wrong one, because i type this i have the wonderful black screen while its loading.
So thank you :)

EDIT2: Worked perfectly thank you so much, now.... how do i write a bat file that doesn't delete my folder lol (i tried copying the one from the mass effect 3 tut, but it wipped my folder when i edited it to my settings :(.

So how would i write one for my Exe's that are in
D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 2\\Binaries
Any help would be amazing :D

Before purchasing The Citadel DLC I was using almost all the mods from the first page without a problem but since buying and installing it all my DLC fails to authorise when the game starts but works fine when not using Texmod. Any ideas? Desperate to get through the game but I just can't play through it without those lovely HR texture mods :(

= big problem i working through this coordinating via private msg with smartteck are bioware turning against this outstanding and perfectly legitimate high resolution texture effort? are they up to mischief again while publicizing the dlc secretly hurting our ability unintentionally to be able to connect to their servers via loading this mod so i can load save missions"?

So in summary here is the problem everyone since citadel dlc:

Problem: Game does not load your save files for your current shepard playthroughs when running texmod with over 12 textures (one test run i did with smartecks absolutely fabulous and FREE;) HR textures allows the server to connect and i could load my current save game- and that was including a mix of texmods largely from my mate Smarteck (of course) and tiny bit of other col texmods as well) However, when attempting to connect to ea server just to make sure all dlc including the suspect interfering citadel dlc loads so i can load my existing save game- nada- does not work- which is frickin outrageous everyone i mean citadel dlc is JUST another dlc why should it interfere with out ability to load our current save game? now i cannot load ANY save games and i strongly suspect no thanx to this new- literally for me a few days old problem- the ea servers do not connect and i canot load my game when using texmod.

Smarteck, have you thought to msg bioware on this matter given it the dlc that interfering? have you spoken to Chris etc? you know they should continue to allow use of your mods in your game as they always have have they made well you know? an accidental mistake through the way the citadel dlc file is structured?

These are the folliowing test runs i did in no particular order:

Smarteck suggested:

1. To change the origin config (ask smarteck via pm for it ) is that ok mate if i direct people stuck on this matter to you?
2. To keep the no. of texmods under 65
3. To use Smarteck's mods only as others can clash is that right Smarteck?
4. Close down any background running programs that use internet connection
5. Check for any minor updates via origin- (i cam across 2 20-30 meg patch updates when i logged into origin twice)- oddly enough AFTER the first minor update through origin, upon running the game with over 65 texmods combined between worlds and costumes/ outfits it WORKED - but there were some other textures i wanted to add so i had to exit the game altogether.
6. The only thing that I can think of that i have not done that really should not have been a issue as my anti-virus has not interfered whatsoever the whole time i used texmod (honestly why cant game comp[anies just keep things simple meaning when mods like this run it more efficient and reliable than the way mass effect 3 needs to rely on origin connnection/ ea server connection and then game files load it a nonsense, convoluted and overcomplicated unecessary headache to go through just to load these beautiful textures and this NEVER was a problem under the mass effect 2 load system at all! not compared to the nightmare of the way we have to connect to mass effect 3!
7. I even tried to drop the structural materials and places texmod as Smarteck suggested to us earlier, and just have the barebone outfit/ weapons textures only done by smarteck

DISTURBINGLY NONE OF THE ABOVE WORKED AT ALL. YOU STILL GET STUCK ON THE MAIN MENU, THE EA SERVER DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT, AND THE DLC IS NOT DETECTED (EVEN THOUGH IT ON OUR DAMN HARDDRIVES!!!!!!!)

None of this makes sense...to go along with the direction that ea taken on a no. of matter.s

Last but not least i privately acknowledged but would say this to Smarteck the smart and ingenious wizard behind these awesome textures.

Smarteck, i was never one for being big on mods- then again i never really played a rpg before until mass efffect blew my socks off.

I prouldy emphasize in bold something i know means a lot to you as your mods mean a lot to us:D Ever since i came across and you directed me to your incredible texmods in HR i not gone without a mass effect 3 game since first loading your texmods and i use nothing but your hHR texmods in my mass effect 3 games and have not done a game where most of the textures are the ordinary default mod since!

I speak on behalf of us with upmost gratitude for your dedicated and devoted time you spend on these mods for us the community..and we should ALL be so fortunate and appreciative for the mods you provided us here- you represent one of the hardest working people in this communtiy- and you through your incredibly inspiring hard work for which we admire you greatly for breathe life through your HR textures into the mass effect gaming experience acrosss the trilogy in a way none of us have experiened before the WAY MASS EFFECT IS MEANT TO BE PLAYED AND EXPERIENCED!

So ffrom all of us here thankyou so much!

oh and hello pk:P i do not TALK to you much in forums lately soz:P

I personally haven't had any problem with authorization, I don't think it's something Bioware intentionally did if it is a non-user error.

well let not defend ea too quickly now lol fair to say we all have a love/ hate relatiomnship with them over the last few years..love their games but get frustrated as with all the new problems not previously existing.

Such as with textmod this is fricking ridiculous...i taken on board a mix of everyone's suggestions and pk have you had conflicts between not being able to load your existing save games , origin client and ea servers not connecting on main menu thereby denying you the chance to load your shepard existing saves?

i cant stand to play me3 without the high res textures can you blame me everuyone? they are cool as.

feel free to pm me anytime pk so we can catch up.

yo back:P

non-user errror pfft sound to me like origin have a lot to answeer for here.. why? why are so many games so inefficient? in the way they load and run? i all for piracy security- which people still bypass and only encourages more hacking no? i dont endorse this beyhavior at all but sheesh so much effort for something that prevbiously worked more easily in me1 and 2 i mean cmon...

I don't think there's a particular reason to get upset until it's shown there is actually a problem that isn't resolvable. I haven't gotten the error so I haven't been able to recreate it to see what could fix it.

Mods are probably broken by accident, not on purpose.

As for the server collector pass thing, yeah that's pretty horrible. They should fix that.

I'm actually experiencing the same exact situation, and I don't even have the Citadel DLC for PC yet (I have it on 360, but not on PC). Up until today I've been using texmod without a problem (generally no more than 20 textures). As of today, however, I get the DLC authorization failure message. If I launch the game without texmod there is no problem.

The weird part is that it was working fine even after the Citadel DLC release. I haven't played the game in roughly a week, so I'm kind of confused that this is happening.

Version 9.1.13.89 - 214647

When I decreased the texture count to 12 the game didn't have any problems. I'm going to see what happens when I add a few more (to see if 12 is the absolute max I can have).

I can, without issues on any of the accounts you reported, load any and ALL of my own texture mods for ME3. This counts hundreds of individual texture replacers in well over 20 total individual TPFs. This combined with TPF's that were specifically made to replace Citadel DLC textures. I wouldn't say there's a global issue.

I'm more tempted to think this boils down to (a) individual texture(s) in a mod (and I remember seeing this reported by others), if it is at all texmod related to begin with. I'd suggest trying to eliminate the culprit by running them one by one and seeing when stuff goes boom. If nothing does, you can assume that's not the issue at all, simply victim of a larger / not directly related issue on your system.

I have to agree with Ottemis. I've been running massive amounts of textures with the Citadel DLC pack (and I've played it through three times so far) without issue. It does sound like a texture issue rather than a software issue.

just wondering if it is possible to pack these HR textures into a sfar file and let the game read the pack as an extra DLC?

this probably works with cracked me3.exe only. and if BSN doesn't allow that, never mind, then =)

Tomy limited knowledge, texmod limits on either the number of actual textures (inside tpfs), or the total size of all textures being loaded.  The actual number of tpfs doesn't matter.   So I don't think making everything into 1 tpf will help load them if loading them seperately doen't work.

To get around this, and the ridiculous load time, I've loaded non dlc and non environment textures into the actual game files with me3explorer and salts Texplorer.  Things like weapons and squadmate uniforms etc.  I've also been forced to use umod for multiplayer since I get the "cannot connect to EA" screen with texmod. It may not have such a limit, I don't know...
