Smarteck just want to say thank you very much after about 14 hours of modding .mod files using your tpfs and several other people's work. I have to say the game looks brilliant! Thank you very much for all the help on these forums too, you are a genius good sir.
Wow, thanks =)
I'm glad to have been helpful. Happy holidays...

Hey Smarteck. Just a quick question. I downloaded your illumination mod (FXAA tool) and I wanted to compare it to the defaults of the game. It's set to your custom settings, but is there a way to put it back to default?
Thanks
Yes, ther is a key for Enable/Disable in game:
(sorry for the big pictures, I search on Google)
- PAUSE for FXAA TOOL:

- SCRLK for SweetFX:

For unistall, just delete the files of the Injector (FXAA TOOL or SweetFX) from win32 game folder.
Good luck

I am not sure if this is actually a problem with this set of MODS or just bad luck. That being said, the loading time for these mods is (understandably) horrendous, limiting sample size...

So yeah, either use less .tpf's, or ditch texmod for permanent replacement.
I had some success with umod actually, but its pretty shoddy...

If so, I'm not under the impression that applies to my problem--DLC authorization failure occurs after connecting to the servers (which then says "Hey, you don't own this") rather than "You can't connect to the servers, period."
The first post in the thread suggests some 60 TPFs can be loaded--I've had great success with around 30 as I became pickier about what I actually want in high resolution (e.g. FemShep doesn't need MaleShep armor loaded).
Also interesting ancedotes from my play so far:
- Too many TPFs cause "Mass Efffect 3 has stopped working" because (I watched this on my second screen) Mass Effect crossed the magical 4096MB RAM boundary for a 32-bit process due to all the textures.
- Pressing SPACE to skip the BioWare/EA logo at the beginning correlated with a "black screen of death" wherein the game's intro music is clearly playing but waiting ~1 minute showed no movement toward loading the game, but letting that ten seconds of logos play meant immediate change to screens that work.
- Origin likes to chew on my CPU--not sure if this is a TexMod thing, Mass Effect thing, or "Working as designed" (since I have never monitored Origin CPU usage previously)--around 12-17% of a four-core, eight-thread (Hyperthreading) CPU constantly when open.
- I did find those "weird texture bugs" mentioned in the first post--sometimes a texture overlays the whole screen but is see-through (think it was Husk on Earth at the beginning), sometimes it looks like a normal map or some oddly colored thing that is NOT see through (think it might have been Eva Core) circa Mars.
- Am NOT using SweetFX or similar as I thought that was causing problems initially (can't blame those conclusively--see previous about too many TPFs and too much RAM load).
- Uses 2500MB consistently and runs smoothly at 2560x1600 on a GeForce GTX470/i7 2600k @ 4.4GHz/16GB RAM
I'd be a fan of permanent texture replacement as long as it doesn't mess things up.

I was under the impression one had to modify the exe to be LAA aware. Otherwise the limit is 2GB.

@SovereignGFC: Permanent replacement doesn't mess much up. It has been known to break things, and its not without its problems, but its waaay better than texmod.
Check here if you want info.

When you replace textures permanently, it's hard to undo them and you can't run texmod over them anymore afterwards so you should ALWAYS check if you're sure about a certain mod before permanently replacing it. Using .MODs should be the end of the road in therms of modding. Once it works it will save a bucket of effort and time not having to wait for Texmod to load, but it does take some time to initially set up right so be aware of that before you start.
I have written a first time setup guide that I really advise everyone reads before they dive in, just so you have a better understanding of what you're actually doing and how to make sure you back everything up properly so you lose the least amount of time should anything go wrong, it's both in the tutorial section of the ME3Explorer forums linked by KFreon and on my blog linked in my signature here.

smarteck, are you referring to the DLC Authorization Launcher fix?

I remember that problem for some users some time ago, and seemed to be on certain geographic areas of the globe. I will to eliminate and be downloading my game again to check it without using ME3explorer.
About the textures in full screen occurs when using "Alt+Tab" and curiously solves pressing the same keys a few times.

I was wondering if you would do Vega's second armor, the one with the light and horse on the side. It's my favourite for him and I've never found any HR version of it.

Hmm, no matter what I try I can't seem to get the Citadel DLC texmod to work. Every time I try using it I keep getting a failure to authorize DLC. Doesn't seem to be related to size of the texmod as I can run both leviathan and omega simultaneously.
Try with this modified Launcher created for using with Texmod (instructions inside):
1. Download: www.mediafire.com/
2. Mirror (DLC Authorize FIX LauncherWV.rar): skydrive.live.com/
Good luck !

And what if pressing ctrl+alt+del and then opening the task manager in win7 does not take you back to the desktop, but merely for a split second before the game automatically maximizes again? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. What am I supposed to do when it doesnt?
Alt-tab to return to desktop doesnt work, because the tab button is recognized by the game as an "any key", and thus the moment you press it the "press any key to continue" will trigger and change the Mass Effect 3 launch screen to the menu screen, whereupon you will immediately be notified that none of the DLCs are registering.
