What the Noise does?
I've read it's noise in dark areas, like little colored dots? Why it's a thing?
Anything that reduces the distortion on the letters in-game? Even when Shift+F12, they're distorted.

The only way I know how to do that is by downsampling. Makes text (and everything else) so much smoother. I currently downsample from 2880x1620 to 1920x1080. I can go higher but my frame rates suffer, and text becomes too tiny to read without some effort. YMMV, it takes a powerful computer to downsample.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've given up on trying to use Texmod. With downsampling and a tweaked Cinematic Filter (to match the settings in the screenshots), I'm satisfied. Looks a lot better than the original.
I might try again sometime, but my computer just doesn't seem to like it very much.

I do not see differences editing that value.

If you mean it can have blurred outlines, maybe is caused by LUMASHARPEN on SweetFX or SHARPENINGAMOUNT on effect.txt.

I set 4K resolution for ME3 only to test.. and looks incredible, but runs to low FPS (20-30 FPS), Im waiting what Nvidia will to announce this sunday on Gamescom (I read will be sunday), maybe I can update my almost 4 years old GTX580 soon to 880 if is good to run games at 4K. ![]()
About UI texts size, maybe there is a fix.. I remember I found the solution for that same problem using downsampling on "Remember Me", With high downsampling the subtitles are too small... but someone find a way to use another font on Unreal Engine config for the game:

If i find something for ME3, I will share that... ![]()

The text thing, they mean the text is low quality/extremely jagged by default at 1920x1080. AFAIK you can't apply AA to the UI and subtitle text, everything in-game looks nice and smooth but the text is terrible by comparison. Downsampling solved the problem for me, since at the resolution I'm at it is small enough for the edges to be smooth while still being legible (anything higher and "hey where'd the text go?").

I'd love to try-it myself, but I'm kind of afraid with all my other mods, it might not work out. I'm pretty sure there's a limit for the number of mods installed and after that, something crashes or it says DLC corrupted...

That might have been true many months ago, before we changed the unpack & treescan method. DLC sfar can no longer bloat beyond 2 gigs in size so corruption is no longer an issue (you know, unless you manage to corrupt it via a faulty mod, slim chance though). As to the limit, sure, but nobody's hit it yet.

Amazing new! I might just try that! And about that limit: how much mods could be installed before we reach-it? For example, I know Smartek also has a Leviathan DLC reskin. If I installed all my current mods plus say, Citadel DLC, Omega DLC and Leviathan DLC mods, you think I would not bust the limit?

Honestly I don't know, it's more of a limit for your hardware than the toolset. Installed textures are placed into a newly generated tfc file. Once that grows to 2 gigs, a new one is created. I've never reached that point myself, others have without issues but it's quite hard to get that far =P

All these screenshots I see of the DX9 cinematic filter mod look amazing but I can't seem to figure out how to make it work or see if it is actually working on MY Mass Effect 3. I think I'm just having an issue with the install process/activation of it and what settings to set in game and/or in the configuration settings. I've downloaded the link to the filter and took all the files from that mod folder and copied them to the folder that has the executable for my Mass Effect 3 through Origin and when I launch the game I have the text in the top left corner that tells you the ENB is activated, I just don't notice a difference and my Mass Effect sure doesn't look like how the screenshots look.
Can anyone help?
P.S. I've tried the ALT+TAB suggestion and changed the resolution and use a 4k downscale.

Try this:
- Go to Nvidia/AMD control panel and set Antialiasing to Application Controled
- if when the game start you see the green texts in the corner of the screen, try disable and enable the effecs with Shift+F12 for Chromatic Aberration, Bloom and Lens Flares. Press ScrLk key to disable/enable SweetFX color correction and Lumasharpen. Tell me if you see some difference when you press that keys.
- try without downsampling, put the game in normal resolution.
But that happend to my one time, Enb part was not working becouse I forced SGSSAA via Nvidia Inspector.
Let me know...

I'm thinking they're just forgetting to activate them. Sometimes I forget to activate the Chromatic Filter and I go nearly a whole cutscene before realising "wait, these lights are too bright and everything's the wrong colour". Then I hit the buttons and BAM! everything's good again. ![]()
Thanks for posting the new effects, I'll have to try them out. ![]()

So I uninstalled the filter and reinstalled it and double checked to make sure my AA was off, which it was, then restarted my mass effect 3 and still didn't notice anything. Hit the ScreenLock and noticed the color change a bit. Hit Shift+F12 and didnt notice a change so I ALT+TAB out and back in and this is what I got....
Help? There's no downsampling used.
EDIT: Ok. So I fixed that issue. Went into the ME3 Config and set everything to Default. Now when I load again it looks normal but this time when I hit the Shift+F12 and the Screen Lock I can see a subtle change but nothing too noticeable again... ![]()

So I've been using texmod with your textures for ages now and have never had a problem. The last time I played Mass Effect was earlier this year probably February and everything was great. I've just come back to the game but now none of the textures seem to be loading. Has the game or origin been updated recently which would prevent the textures from working? I tried loading all my textures as I usually do, then I tried loading just the Ajax dark armour texture by itself and that still didn't work. I've also reinstalled the game to no avail. I have no idea how to fix this.

Still working if you do not use ME3Explorer... re-check the steps and remember disable Origin in the game overlay:
To use these textures, you need the software Texmod: Download
/// Users of Windows 8.1 set Texmod in windows XP compatibility mode. ///
Instructions for dealing with Origin:
- Put the file Texmod.exe in your game folder Win32 (alongside the game's executable.).
- Edit this file with Notepad: https://www.mediafir...658s2bboj58c0hu
- Change the 5 times the path where you have installed your game, for example on my PC is:
D:\Origin\games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32\MassEffect3.exe.
Put your right installation path.
- Save the changes to the bat file (like .bat not .txt)
- Open Origin.
- Now run the file MassEffect3.bat.
- Press Y and then Enter key.
- Start the game FROM ORIGIN WINDOW (it will open Texmod)
- Press a Space bar 2 times on the window of MassEffect3.bat (the window will close)
- Now you can use texmod, first select the game .exe file (MassEffect3.exe) pressing the big folder icon, then the mods you want to use (.tpf files) in the middle small folder icon and press Run.
Tip: you can select several tpf files dragging the mouse over them, I think the limit is 40. I add 63 MODs in two loads.
After press RUN the game will take a few minutes to start (loading black screen), depending on how many simultaneous MODs you have loaded and the speed of your PC (my time is 9 minutes with all the Mods).
Good luck! ![]()

When using Texmod, do you have to run it and reload all the mods each time you want to play Mass Effect 3 or are the textures permanently installed when you run it once?

Yes, you have to run texmod everytime you load the game. It's the natural counterpart to the toolset (which does permanent replacements).
You are doing something wrong in the boot process if a second copy is starting up. To get back to starting position: close texmod, doubleclick the .bat file in "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" then hit enter a couple of times. Now check the "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" folder to see if no .bak file is present. You should only find the Texmod (584KB) and MassEffect3 (21,857KB) executables in that folder now.
Launch the .bat again, go to Origin's Game Library and start up ME3. Texmod should now start. Go straight back to the .bat and hit enter till it disappears. Now go to Texmod and manually browse to "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" to select MassEffect3.exe. Select your tpf's and hit run.
Green part needs to be done every time you want to launch the game.
