Yes, you have to run texmod everytime you load the game. It's the natural counterpart to the toolset (which does permanent replacements).
You are doing something wrong in the boot process if a second copy is starting up. To get back to starting position: close texmod, doubleclick the .bat file in "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" then hit enter a couple of times. Now check the "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" folder to see if no .bak file is present. You should only find the Texmod (584KB) and MassEffect3 (21,857KB) executables in that folder now.
Launch the .bat again, go to Origin's Game Library and start up ME3. Texmod should now start. Go straight back to the .bat and hit enter till it disappears. Now go to Texmod and manually browse to "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" to select MassEffect3.exe. Select your tpf's and hit run.
Green part needs to be done every time you want to launch the game.
Ah ok. That got it working and it loaded up after a bit as I'm using a lot of the TPF's but on the intro load scene when I clicked New Game it crashed. Error with too many things being loaded at once?
I never had the issue with ME3 Explorer.
To be clear, I started a fresh install of the game with vanilla files to use Texmod. Haven't used ME3 Explorer yet on these files. When I used it previously I had no issues. Just wanted to try what was being recommended by the author.
