Yes, you have to run texmod everytime you load the game. It's the natural counterpart to the toolset (which does permanent replacements).

You are doing something wrong in the boot process if a second copy is starting up. To get back to starting position: close texmod, doubleclick the .bat file in "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" then hit enter a couple of times. Now check the "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" folder to see if no .bak file is present. You should only find the Texmod (584KB) and MassEffect3 (21,857KB) executables in that folder now.

Launch the .bat again, go to Origin's Game Library and start up ME3. Texmod should now start. Go straight back to the .bat and hit enter till it disappears. Now go to Texmod and manually browse to "..\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32" to select MassEffect3.exe. Select your tpf's and hit run.

Green part needs to be done every time you want to launch the game.

Ah ok. That got it working and it loaded up after a bit as I'm using a lot of the TPF's but on the intro load scene when I clicked New Game it crashed. Error with too many things being loaded at once?

I never had the issue with ME3 Explorer.

To be clear, I started a fresh install of the game with vanilla files to use Texmod. Haven't used ME3 Explorer yet on these files. When I used it previously I had no issues. Just wanted to try what was being recommended by the author.

If the game crash when you are playing there is 2 causes:

1. You are using some NOT OPTIMIZED TPF file. When you use a lot of TPF files the system is a little unstable, and for that reason you can not use tpf files with textures in jpg, png or other regular format... only can use textures in DDS format. Try only to use textures I called "OPTIMIZED 2". Almos all the tpf files you will find here are in OPTIMIZED 2 format (on mediafie, mega and in Onedrive)...

From first page:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

IMPORTANT:
To prevent crashes, prefers to use the files marked as "OPTIMIZED 2": With the same quality in high resolution, but in a new format with less memory consumption and more friendly game engine.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

> If the game crash during gameplay, maybe you are using some NOT OPTIMIZED MOD. Try only with that marked as OPTIMIZED 2. Or maybe your Coalesced.bin file is damage.. in that case restore that file.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

and 2. Maybe your are using just too many tpf files :P   I use like 63 at the same time (using Master file C for enviroments).

And if you are good using ME3Explorer, maybe you can install some textures for characters via that tool and use the rest via Texmod.... I think that is possible. At least I do that some time ago...But yeah, when the game crash in-game is becouse some TPF file content textures in JPG or PNG or BMP and that make the game crash...

Ask to other users in what format are their tpf files textures, I know Dead_Meat357 use DDS, and for the rest of contributions here, I OPTIMIZE their files and put them on OneDrive on Contributions folder: http://1drv.ms/1rN9dIc  and for Multiplayer I do the same: http://1drv.ms/1p0Ptxd

I think that Ottemis use DDS format too...

Yeah all mine are DDS as well and everything I linked to the Nexus are also format-fixed and compatible with the toolset.

Thanks for all the help. Finally got everything working. Last thing:

Is there an easy way to take Screenshots? If I PrintScreen in full screen it either doesnt take it or just captures a blank screen. Suggestions?

There's probably a better way, but I have always used Fraps to do a video capture and then get screenshots from that.

EDIT: You could also run the game in borderless windowed mode and run at the resolution of your monitor. I think that may allow print screen to work properly. Plus, it makes alt-tabbing out of the game really quick and reliable. Does suck up resources though.

If you use some of the illumination MODs (CInematic or SweetFX), just press Print Screen key and the file will be saved on Win32 Game Folder...

It's funny, I thought the fact that I forgot to set Texmod to Windows XP compatability mode might be why it wasn't working, but it worked fine for Mass Effect 2 and I didn't do that. Regardless, I set it and it still doesn't work, startup is not delayed at all and none of the textures get changed.

Oh well, I've made it about halfway through the game now without Texmod so I think I can manage... :P

Here is a UHD vid of this mod in action with fraps.

UHD = ultra HD, 4k.

Shot at 3840x2160 resolution, on a samsung 50" TV, in game.

Using these 4k texture mods and ini/coalesced file tweaks.

(Any visible lag is due to fraps, The game runs very well.)

2x gtx 680 in sli. 4770k, both overclocked.

EDIT: Mass Effect 1 opening cutscene is ready:

Using the M.E.U.I.T.M. mod here:

Redownloaded ME 1-3 and modded them all, with the best textures I could find, on a top end system.

It looks so amazing I had to show it off.

I can actually play it too. Frame rates are totally playable. \o/

Love you guys.. idc.. Seriously love you guys.

Thank you for all the hard work on this series.

Donated to MEUITM,

Re-check first page problems area.. maybe you need to fix something....

//////

Nope, none of those problems apply to me.

Something odd has happened however. I've been playing the game fine with just the Cinematic mods (the first one and now the new one, of course I removed the first one before installing the new one) and downsampling. Downsampling still works, and the SweetFX part still works, but now suddenly the ENB part no longer works. It's really strange considering I was playing with both enabled just earlier today. The green ENB debug text no longer shows in the corner when I start the game. What's also strange is that, after starting the game tonight, the Origin window opened up as well as the game. This has never happened before, and I never closed Origin, so I have no idea why it would have popped up.

I did let my mom use my computer earlier for Google Maps, and she accidentally put my taskbar on the top of the screen even though she claimed that it was like that when she went on. I hope she didn't do anything, though I don't see how she would have broken my mod. I think Origin might have updated something, but I tried reinstalling the Cinematic Mod 2 and still only the SweetFX part works.

Origin is updated automatically... Disable Origin in the game overlay again...

If does not works, star the game.. make Alt+Tab and go back to the game. Also if you are using some other Overlay software, like Fraps, MSI Afterburner, etc.. try closing that to test.

No, I checked the Origin Application Settings first thing, In Game overlay was still disabled.

Just restarted my computer, and it's suddenly fine again! And there's an NVIDIA GeForce Experience update! That was really strange, but it's all good now. :)

EDIT: Okay, so, I'm an idiot. Texmod hasn't been working properly because of something I've been doing wrong since the beginning! For whatever reason, I thought that Origin shortcuts were like Steam's, but they're just regular application shortcuts. So, I've been launching the .bat file, then launching Mass Effect 3 through the shortcut, therefore bypassing Origin entirely. I wasn't launching it through Origin like I thought; it was just directly starting Texmod. So, I properly launched it via Origin this time, and voila! About 10 minutes after a black screen, Texmod works, and now I can enjoy the final part of the game with high-res textures! :P

Smarteck, maybe you should add that to the "Problems" part of the first post? Something along the lines of "Make sure you launch Mass Effect 3 from Origin and not a shortcut."

EDIT: Can you close Texmod after the game starts? Sometimes I Alt+Tab to handle something else outside the game, and while it doesn't take up a lot of resources, having the window open all the time is bothersome (at least it can be hidden behind other windows...).

Hey smarteck (and anyone else who can help) I has another problem. Every so often I will have a weird skin/texture appear across my entire screen forcing me to restart the game. I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and never had this problem on Win 7 so that could be the cause... I'm using 96 skins (all optimized) with texmod but I've been using around that number for a long time so don't think that is the problem. Halp I'm so close to finishing my first run through :(

When you tab in and out of the game with so many textures loaded it can happen. I used to frequently have a texture overlay the screen when looking into light sources etc and/or when tabbing back into the game. You can attempt to alt-tab repeatedly to resolve the overlay issue when it happens but best advice is to just avoid alt-tabbing entirely when running the game with Texmod.

But that is on the steps to use Texmod. Extracted from main page:

_______________________________________________________________________________

- Now run the file MassEffect3.bat.

- Press Y and then Enter key.

- Start the game FROM ORIGIN WINDOW (it will open Texmod)

- Press a Space bar 2 times on the window of MassEffect3.bat (the window will close)

_______________________________________________________________________________

Some people do not read all the content of first page... do not worry, you are not the first.  :P

About closing Texmod after the game start, I do not know.. I never try that, no reason to do it for me. :)

Ottemis is right, do that to fix that problem.. and if you have more problems search on main page for the fix.

Extracted from main page:

> If some texture getting stuck in full screen, press Alt + Tab to minimize the game and then returns to the game to remove it (sometimes it is necessary to repeat the process a couple of times).
