It's just easy to over do it with those bump mapping utilities. Subtlety is key, as always.

I'm really enjoying these textures. This is how the game should have shipped. It's a bit slow on the Normandy when they first load, but otherwise I can hardly tell a difference in performance even at 2560x1600. Now I just want high resolution textures for the M-96 Mattock and the N7 Defender armor. :)

I hope you know why the Normandy textures cause the game to load slowly...

Yes I do. I'm quite well aware of the reasons for this. The textures are huge in comparison to the default ones. And once the initial game load is done, there is a minimal impact to level load times. Once loaded there is a performance hit on the Normandy, but it's not all that bad. Frame rates dip down into the 40's here and there. Visually it looks a lot better so I can't complain.

I think Tali needs the work first. I prefer Ashley as a squad mate but Ashley's model is new in ME3. And texture wise it's not as horrid as some of the others are. Garrus's was among the worst offenders but that's corrected. Tali's was reused from Mass Effect 2. It's OK despite that, but the texturing on her mask is pretty bad. Liara's updates are fine, really I'd say that the next one that needs to be done is Tali, then followed by James, Ashley / Kaiden. Jame's armor looks pretty bad actually, but not as bad as Tali's.

Okay guys, so we go faster, I request saves, with the characters in sight, hopefully those who have not installed DLCs, as yet I have not installed and those saved games will not start on my PC.

I hope to Tali, Jarvik, Mordin, etc..

Salu2. ;)

I'll second the wanting! I also didn't think Thane looked bad. Hes supposed to be super-scaly all-over, no? And plus, if he's in the hospital, I imagine his scales are well polished. Hence the shine.

The second time around with Thane looked more natural to me at least...and it doesn't look as bad in a single shot but when it's moving...yikes. Lights are bouncing all over the texture.

And I'm not sure if anyone noticed but all of EDI's textures were tweaked by myself - I changed the Alliance logo back to Cerberus and EDI to EVA - just to maintain continuity. Also, I made it so the wires and tubes weren't becoming lost in shadow. Why waste all that amazing detail? I'll distribute the TPFs if allowed....(hint hint smarteck)

Additionally, Garrus' was tweaked a bit so that the frontal plate retained it's silvery look - it looked pretty dark in your version. There is a new norm map here but it's really only visible up close on the rim.

Tali and Grunt were done for Mass Effect 2 by a guy named JeanLuc, which his textures work perfectly fine in Mass Effect 3. He also did Legion as well as a few others.

I'd like to have Dr Eva's skin over EDI's character just to see how it looks. It'll give Joker even more reason to ga-ga over her! lol

So I really want some high resolution N7 Defender armor. Granted this only effects Gamestop preorders, and it could possibly be adapted to James Vega. In any case I'm clear on how I identify the textures and pull them out of the game to edit them, and package them and all that. What I'm not clear on is the actual process of increasing their resolution.

Do you simply increase the texture size, or do you do some kind of processing to it? I saw the tutorial video on actually changing the textures, but I'm not sure I want to go and do that. I just want to keep the armor looking pretty much as it does already, I just want it in higher resolution.

Also, if I were to change it, I think I'd like to make it smoother, and more like James's. I guess I could pull the textures for his armor as well. But in the game it looks to have a steel type texture similar to the walls in certain parts of the Normandy. I'm not sure if this means anything, but I'm guessing based on the tutorial that I might be able to retexture the armor with that texture, and recolor it. (I think.)

Anyway, some insight into making these things higher resolution would be nice. I've got a power ful computer, all the DLC / weapons, plenty of saves to get what I need quickly, and most importantly, time.

I've been having trouble with adding mods when it comes to adding multiple mods. The only mod that stays is the one that is on the top of the list. They are all the ones that smarteck has made. Any help and/or ideas would be appreciated.

My PC specs are:
OS: Windows XP Home Edition 32bit
CPU: P4 3.40GHz
RAM: 2.GB
NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR RAM
5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Cambridge SoundWorks
22in Acer x223w widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

I can play this game with all the settings maxed without any loss of frame rate.
