I'm... I mean this looks awesome, but somehow it looks like unless these
HR textures are internalized and streamlined with the core game....

To use these textures without the use of Texmod would be pretty tough. You'd would need to have mod tools in order to do it. Not sure what Bioware's stance on that is though. Not sure if that's what you were asking.

If you need textures, I've got a few I wouldn't mind seeing you fix up. :)

I'm starting to get my technique down to where I'll be able to get these done as well. Hopefully with some really good results. Doing some more tests on Ashley's armor now. Mostly I've just got to figure out what looks good through trial and error. Some stuff .looks great on screen when editing, but then it doesn't show up very well or is too much on the actual model in the game.

Seems to be a lot faster with Origin than Steam. When I first started using these textures, took me roughly 5 minutes. However, I actually optimized some of the textures, and with them, it only takes about 10 seconds to load everything.

I'm currently uploading the optimized versions that I modified. The RAR archive is around 140 MB or so.

Although, I had some trouble doing EDI, because whenever I downscaled her textures, it came out messy. It has something to do with the big file (I think they call it a normal map). So I just left that as 4096 resolution.

Optimized textures

Thanks for the files, tomorrow I'll add to the Post.
On this side of the world, it is time to sleep.

Imagine Bioware compiling all these textures, adding their own and releasing the whole package for free to PC.

But that would be too sensible and customer-friendly for it to ever happen..

So the only squad members left are Ashley, Tali, and Javik? I look forward to seeing them complete, it is difficult playing single player when half the team looks like they are from a different game. And I say that with affection, because the textures for Garrus and EDI (my current squad) are so supreme compared to those 3 that I don't want to take them along ;P

Working on Ashley now. I believe someone did a good Tali upgrade in ME2 and that the texture works for ME3. Though you may have to rename the file name for the texture so it loads properly in ME3. I've heard it works though.

Thanks for the tip. It works flawlessly, didn't even have to rename the file :) I'll bet you can do the same thing with Grunt, Thane, Samara, Legion, Mordin, and maybe Kasumi, Miranda and Jacob, too (these three seem to have slight facial alterations in ME3 unlike the others so Idk if it would work).

Still, I really like Tali's alternate appearance and would love to see it in high res. It will be done, by someone else or me.

Wow, this is what fu*king consoles get you...

I'm editing this texture, plus Ardat-Yakshi suit (two sisters), the textures of illumation and some wall and floor textures in this level, be patient, soon I will upload the pack  :) there's a lot of bad textures in every level, we need more people join us!!!

would be helpful if someone fix the textures of the Rachni Queen, and the reaper parts of that level

What performance hit are you guys getting? I have a GTX 570 and I notice a hit when I use these.

I do see a slight performance hit in a few places, but not too many. Mostly when I'm in the Normandy's CIC and when I first enter the Presidium Commons. The Reaper base on Rannoch also makes some use of many of the Normandy's textures and there is a slight hit there. Near as I can tell the improved textures for character models don't impact performance. My machine is getting long in the tooth, but still fairly powerful. Running at 2560x1600 with 8xMSAA. I think the only place it dips into the 30's is in the Normandy's CIC. Everywhere else I typically get 60FPS.

System Specs:

Intel Core i7 Extreme 980X @ 4.40GHz
Koolance Exos 2.5, Koolance CPU-370
ASUS Rampage III Black Edition
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz (3 x 4GB Kit, 12GB total)
Intel X25-M 80GB Gen 2, 1x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
Corsair Obsidian 800D
Thermaltake ToughPower 1200 watt
Diamond AMD Radeon HD 7970
3x Dell 3007WFP-HC 30" LCD monitors

On another note, significant progress on Ashley's armor textures. I finally found a look for her armor textures I can live with. Now it's a matter of applying the changes to the rest of her armor. (So far just the chest has been done.) My process is similar to what I think Smartek is doing, although I'm no doubt making it harder than I need to. I'm using different software and I'm probably using many, many more layers so that I can fine tune the appearance of her textures more easily. I am also doing it in such a way as to allow me to do recolors and apply this technique to Liara's armor as well. Though I have to remember that the S1 and eagle emblems are on the physical model as a raised part of the surface, not just a texture. So any armor I recolor and place on Liara will have to account for that and vice versa. I wanted to remove the S1 and emblem optionally, but it looks bad when I do. So I'll have to recolor it and keep it.

Oh, and if anyone has any good "white painted metal" type textures let me know. I've still not found what I want for the white stripes that appear on her armor.

And I will be doing a recolor of Ashley's armor in her traditional Phoenix Armor colors. I recall someone asking for that.

Open the folder with your MassEffect3.exe and drag it to the desktop. DONE

Paste a 'copy' of your Textmod.exe into the folder that had the MassEffect3.exe.
DONE

Rename your Texmod.exe to MassEffect3.exe.
DONE

Open Origin and run Mass Effect 3, this will open up Textmod. (You can now minimize Origin)
DONE

Go back to the folder where you renamed Texmod.exe and replace it with the original MassEffect3.exe from your desktop. CONFUSING

Now it become confusing. So i just put that masseffect3.exe from my desktop back to Win32 folder? It ask me to replace file (that texmod) but it cant be done because
1. It is already open (texmod) with origin start
2. You need to permission for this action, even as administrator.

So if i close texmod and then i can replace it, but then it is all back to normal, game start like fresh game?
What im doing wrong?

Do what I do. Rename MassEffect3.exe to MassEffect3_Bak.exe. Next rename Texmod to MassEffect3.exe. Then launch the game through Origin. Once done, you can go into the folder and rename MassEffect3.exe, which is actually your Texmod executable, back to texmod.exe. Then rename MassEffect3_bak.exe to MassEffect3.exe. Then all you need to do is launch the game from the Texmod program after you setup all your tpf files. That's it.

I guess it should be written in the first post, 'cause I had confuses some time ago too, before i got to the point and did the same things (renaming back the masseffect3.exe file to texmod.exe).

I have a GTX570 and i had a performance hit too.
I "fixed" it by turning off the fxaa injector with the pausebreak key.
I know this is not a fix, but at least here the framerate drop was caused by the fxaa, when i turn it off the game runs smooth as silk with all the text mods.

That's another reason why I don't use FXAA. NVIDIA Inspector gets you better results minus the framerate hit.

I still can't get decent performance forcing AA through my nVidia drivers. What was the logarithm you said you used before?

Otherwise, you mentioned you only play ME3 on one card? If that's the case, it might be an SLI issue on my end.

Might be some setting in your graphics drivers. I'm running a GTX 580 in my other computer and though I'm only running at 1680x1050 on that system, the performance even with 8xMSAA is solid. Even mid-range cards should be able to handle Mass Effect 3 fairly well. SLI issues do indeed occur in some games. I'd make sure your driver is up to date if you haven't checked that already. I'm sure there is an SLI profile for Mass Effect 3 in the newer profiles.

Wow. For some reason, popping it over to "SLI AA" works like a charm. I think it's because that only uses one GPU for rendering and the other for AA? I'm running at 32x MSAA with 16x SS without a hitch.

I'll do some further testing...

SLI AA typically splits the workload between two cards and "assembles" the final output.
