What performance hit are you guys getting? I have a GTX 570 and I notice a hit when I use these.

I have a GTX570 and i had a performance hit too.
I "fixed" it by turning off the fxaa injector with the pausebreak key.
I know this is not a fix, but at least here the framerate drop was caused by the fxaa, when i turn it off the game runs smooth as silk with all the text mods.

Maybe you should review the type of AA you're using, my nephew has a GTX570 and has no performance problem using "MOD FXAA" + Textures.

I try to force a better AA on my PC and that if performance worsened a lot.

Try reducing the AA from the Nvidia  panel.

I use via Nvidia Inspector:

Antialiasing setting: 4x (4x multisampling)
Antialiasing - Transparency: 8x Superampling

So I have no problem.
PS: In the menu of the game I have AA disabled.

Most excellent. As soon as I get a break from my normal work I should be finishing Ashley's textures up. So probably a day or two, but she's looking good.

I have begun uploading 1080p walkthrough videos onto Youtube for Mass Effect 3 PC on Insanity difficulty with Soldier class, no deaths. Most importantly my videos will showcase all of Smarteck's textures in its high-definition eye-murdering glory :D

Mass Effect 3 PC (SOLDIER) Insanity Walkthrough Part 2 (Prothean Archives) No Deaths with SMARTECK'S HD TEXTURES

I'm in the middle of finals week (well technically it's the next two weeks, but I'm spending more time studying now than playing video games)

EDIT: Part 1 (Earth intro) upload got ****ed up because our apartment was getting its network serviced and the upload got interrupted, hence failed. Will upload it later sometime tonight (I'm in the Pacific Time Zone)

EDIT 2: For those of you who want a "PC" like FOV without having to press an annoying key every time you enter a cutscene, I have included the link to the code you would need to put into Coalesced.bin to get an FOV of 100 as is done in my Youtube video.

EDIT 3: For those of you wondering how I "speed walk" boring sections of the game as I do at 5 minutes and 2 seconds, it's because I bounded a key to console command "slomo 4" in Coalesced.bin so that I can speed up really boring sections of the game by 400% !!!

Don't I know it. The default textures are indeed hideous at that resolution. I'll have to check that out since I typically always rock a soldier. I'm currently playing on Insanity, and I've died only a couple times, always due to a grenade. (Damned Cerberus.) And yeah, having taken videos on my own system, it kills drive space. I dropped down to 1080p for video captures as well for that very reason.

What pattern or texture are you using for the rough looking area on their chests? I have tried but couldn't find anything similar. I don't suppose I could get that texture / image file from you? I'd love to use that texture on Ashley in the same areas used on FemShep / ManShep.

Awesome. You've been a big help in general. I'd never have figured out how to do this without your assistance.

Still a lot to do. But I thought I'd share a preview. This is a texture test I did earlier. Everything is stock aside from parts of the chest. Hope the change is obvious. :)

Thanks.

One thing that's painful about looking at those test shots, is the new textures vs. the old ones still on the model. They are just so fuzzy lacking in detail.

Here is my batch file that I use so I don't have to go through that renaming crisis every time I want to start up Mass Effect 3 with Texmod. Create a text file, paste this code in, save it, and rename the file to MassEffect3.bat.

@ECHO OFF
ECHO Run Mass Effect 3 with Texmod?
SET /P X=(Y)es or (N)o?
IF /I "%X%"=="Y" goto :Yes
IF /I "%X%"=="N" goto :No
GOTO END

:Yes
ren "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "MassEffect3_tmp.exe
ren "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\Texmod.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Files renamed! Please start now your Mass Effect 3 in Origin.
PAUSE

ren "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "Texmod.exe"
ren "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3_tmp.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Filenames restored! Now you can start Mass Effect 3 with use of TexMod.
PAUSE

GOTO END

:No

"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe"

:END

Got three more requets.

Hackett's uniform - pretty much same deal as you've done with Anderson.
Alliance Marines - the armored humans you see when returning to Earth, they're way too low res.
Anderson's resistance uniform - the gray one with the cap, that he wears for most of the game, could use a touch-up.

I'm getting strange artifacting on my textures now in-game. After about 30 minutes into a game I get strange textures that wrap around anything in the game, sometimes wrapping my entire screen.. Any ideas?

I have my eye on the HR textures. At least these textures don't hurt my eyes, like the defaults. I'd like to wait until this is finished, however. I'm not a fan of mixed resolutions. Keep up the good work, all you people!

Freakin' A, BioWare. This should have happened on launch. Your 'High-Resolution Textures' that you tweeted were included in the game are, well, an outright joke.

You mean you don't consider 1024x1024 with a half-size specular map "high-res?" Yeah, I'd say BioWare is a little behind the times when it comes to textures. All you have to do is play ME3 for a couple of hours, then quit and run The Witcher 2 -- a game that has TRUE high-res textures. Not comparing the games in quality, just the textures. ME3 could use some high-res nudity too, IMHO, while I'm comparing the two :P

The Witcher 2 has probably the best texture design I've seen in an AAA title in my life.

Don't forget, all their content is essentially "open source," as long as you give them credit. Ha, I was actually the guy who originally contacted CDProjekt RED about two years ago to get permission to port their models and textures into other games. Very cool dudes over there.

AND they really don't care about piracy, there's no stupid DRM on Witcher 2 if you buy it retail.

Would be nice if BioWare did the same for the Mass Effect series... I have knowledge on UDK and Unreal coding...

Now, don't tell any of these people I still exist or else they'll draw and quarter me for not finishing the mod. Ah, the good old days.

Uh, good luck waiting for everything in the game to be "finished". Even if it did, you won't be able to play the game. Also I don't think anyone is going to do EVERY single texture in the game, it already causes memory leaks because the current set of textures exceeds 3300 megabytes of RAM (which at this point causes texture glitching and renders the game unplayable).

Would mip mapping solve this? I notice a lot of modders use formats that don't support them. Textures with mip maps are larger files, but use MUCH less VRAM. I might experiment with it a bit...

I had that happen when running FXAA Tool (which I know you aren't) and FRAPS at the same time. Disabling either one resolved the problem for me. FRAPS interacting with NVIDIA Inspector maybe? For me at least, it only happened when recording video with FRAPS, and even after stopping the recording the problem would persist during normal gameplay.

I capture everything in TGA format which should support mip mapping. However I tend to include .JPG's in the final output file for the package build due to file sizes. That being said, I've never actually had problems running the full sized targa files in a package.

No I don't use FRAPS, I use DxTory, and even when I'm not running DT, I still get the strange artifacting. I notice it happens when MassEffect3.exe goes beyond 3300 mb of RAM... But I don't see anyone else posting to this thread reporting a similar problem.

I haven't had that issue. I haven't really looked at the memory usage too closely either. I've monitored VRAM usage, but not so much system RAM. I guess I'll check that and see. I'm running most of the mods made by Smartek and one or two made by others. Plus whatever I'm testing at the time. If it isn't already, I may try seeing if I can get the memory usage to go beyond 3.3GB of RAM just to see if I get the same problem.

Out of curiosity, have you checked your VRAM usage? I wonder if you are hitting the wall on that. I know you run at 2560x1600 as do I, but your GTX 480's only have 1.5GB of RAM. Granted, you normally need only half that for this game, but with the added textures, I've hit the 3.0GB ceiling on my card more than a few times.

The only thing I've run into graphically is the problem where the textures don't show on the model at all, or I get a weird lighting issue on the custom texture. Moving things around in Texmod seems to resolve that each time. I realize it isn't the same problem, but I'm simply mentioning the only issue I've seen running all these mods at once.
