You're a regular Jean Luc! If I had the PC version I'd take advantage of these for sure.

Would any of these textures work in ME3? http://talizorah.org...hp?topic=3664.0

Any textures that share the same model (e.g. Jacob, Miranda, Garrus' Face, etc.) should work in ME3, though the .tpf files will need to be extracted and the individual textures renamed, so TexMod knows which ones to replace.

There are several mods that accomplish similar things, listed here:
http://social.biowar.../7065/#projects

Otherwise, in order to retool those textures to work in ME3, you would need to contact the author for permission. I'd happily convert them over if he/she is willing.

Exactly. Tali, Mordin and Legion use the same models and they did in ME2. So those textures should work just fine after being renamed to match what they should be in ME3. I recall reading that someone did that with Tali already and it worked.

Why the **** does this keep on happening when I load the textures? I'm not new to Texmod I've been using it since Mass Effect 1 and I followed the instructions on how to use it.

Did you use the work around needed for Origin / Mass Effect 3?

Since EA started using Origin, there's a pain-in-the-ass workaround you have to use to get TexMod to work. Basically, you have to fool Origin into thinking that TexMod is ME3 first, then run ME3 from TexMod.

Just rename MassEffect3.exe to something like MassEffect3_BAK.exe, then rename TexMod.exe to MassEffect3.exe. Note that they both have to be in the same directory for this to work.

After that, open Origin and run the game from the menu. TexMod should pop up. Minimize Origin to the taskbar -- don't close out of it so it minimizes to the system tray. Rename your new MassEffect3.exe back to TexMod.exe, then MassEffect3_BAK.exe back to MassEffect3.exe. Run ME3 from TexMod and it should work.

If you've already done this, make sure that Origin is in fact  minimized, not running in the system tray. I pulled my hair out for an hour or two trying to figure that bit out. Also, a number of modders have written batch files that automate the process for you.

Hope that helps and I didn't tell you anything you already knew.

Cheers.

I already did this but instead I only renamed the Texmod copy to MassEffect3 and moved the original MassEffect3 to the deskop like smarteck said. I'll try it in a few hours again since I'm not at home right now,

No sense in moving the executable around. In fact I'd advise against it on the off chance you'd copy a shortcut, or accidentally overwrite the executable. Just follow the proceedure as InBleedingRapture outlined and it will work.

Or just use the easy way with a batch-file. Here is the original post from Black Angel One.

Requirements:
- You have to copy the Texmod.exe to your Mass Effect 3 Folder as instructed in the original post!
- If your Mass Effect 3 folder difthers from mine (Which is pretty sure) you have to change the Path. Just remember to add the " if your path contain spaces.

Now:

1. Create a new Textfile (With Notepad) and open it
2. Add following lines:

@ECHO OFF
ECHO Run Mass Effect 3 with Texmod?
SET /P X=(Y)es or (N)o?
IF /I "%X%"=="Y" goto :Yes
IF /I "%X%"=="N" goto :No
GOTO END

:Yes
ren "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "MassEffect3_tmp.exe
ren "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\Texmod.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Files renamed! Please start now your Mass Effect 3 in Origin.
PAUSE

ren "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe" "Texmod.exe"
ren "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3_tmp.exe" "MassEffect3.exe"

ECHO Filenames restored! Now you can start Mass Effect 3 with use of TexMod.
PAUSE

GOTO END

:No

"D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe"

:END

3. Save your file, close it and rename the extension from ".txt" to ".bat"

4. Run your new created BATCH-File and follow the instructions.

5. Enjoy the game.

You can also find Black Angel One´s Post here: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9332262/3#10113893

Alternative --> Use the preset batch-file (Just make sure to change the path´s to match yours). This is originally from DieVarieties. You can find his post here: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/323/index/9735492/11

And his batch file is here: www.dvnmagazine.com/me3shortcut.zip

Posted that batch file already, you copied it directly, most people have ME3 installed on the C drive, not the D drive. Look at your code again.

Hehe, noticed that too, did you?

I'm too lazy to write anything like that. I just use DOS commands to swap the names  then swap them back :P

Idiot... That batch file doesn't even work if you have Origin installed in a different directory. Mine is installed in C:\\Origin, he literally just copied and pasted the code without really understanding it...

@InBleedingRapture: That's exactly what MY batch file does, and what HIS batch file doesn't... They even talk about that in the other thread, how it doesn't work if your game is installed in a different directory.

Well it isn't exactly rocket science to change a few lines of code. :)

@ECHO OFF
ECHO Engage solid-fuel rocket, stage one?
SET /P X=(Y)es or (N)o?
IF /I "%X%"=="Y" goto :Yes
IF /I "%X%"=="N" goto :No
GOTO BLASTOFF

It's easier just to keep the batch file in the ME3 directory and create a shortcut. That way, everyone can use them just the same.

Is it possible to do the multiplayer characters in high res?

Hi guys,

Yesterday I ran out of video memory sufficient to load all the textures together, so I started to optimize the files of all the mods we have here.

JPG files, I'm leaving at 70% quality (previously 90%, and look almost the same). The good thing is that files its weight reduced by half, keeping the resolution of 4096x4096. :D

For DDS files, I can only reduce the resolution to 2048x2048 and size cut in half.

Anyone know any way to compress the DDS as I do with the JPG to reduce your weight?.:mellow:

Salu2.

Their textures yes, as to whether or not you could actually play the multiplayer in high resolution, I don't know. There is a chance that Origin could flag Texmod as a cheat and get your EA/Origin account banned. Things like that have happened in the past.

Ok, I guess that would be a bad idea, but is it possible to do entire maps in high res? Single player of course.

I'm done to optimize all.

Changes:

Within a couple of hours, I'll upload the new files as OPTIMIZED.

Also, I will eliminate the download links for files "normal". but these will continue to exist in the backup folder of the website Skydrive. skydrive.live.com/

Okay, it was something useful the compression. Even I can not **** all the textures together, but, more than before. :D

For now we must go charging only those necessary for the moment and there will be no problems.

Later I'll upload the optimized files.

Yes it would. You can actually make almost any texture in the game higher resolution. It isn't limited to character models, the Normandy or the Citadel.
