Yesterday I ran out of video memory sufficient to load all the textures together, so I started to optimize the files of all the mods we have here.

How much memory does your video card have?

Anyone know if Jeanluc's "DLC Kestrel Armor" retex works with the ME3 armor set? JeanLuc's thread: http://social.biowar...ndex/5314761/1.

Thanks.

Anyone know any way to compress the DDS as I do with the JPG to reduce your weight?.

I tried using BC5 compression on a texture, but I couldn't seem to get the lights to work on EDI's shoulders. Everything else was fine though. File size went from 20 MB to 5 MB.

It has 1.5 GB. You think I miss configure something?

One of the times that the game gave error(crash to desktop),  in the program afterburner saw Vcard memory was full.

No I was just curious. My GTX 560Ti has 1GB, and the game sometimes freezes when I walk around on the Normandy (using the hi-res textures). I know my main system memory is too small (4GB) - the task manager shows it as full and ME3 using 3GB, so I suspect it is swapping to disk sometimes.

The AMD Radeon HD 7970 has 3GB of RAM and when monitoring the usage, I can hit the maximum on it too with all the texture mods loaded. Though anti-aliasing, plus the texture mods and your resolution make a world of difference on that.

When I load the MODs, the system RAM goes up to 7GB of a total of 8. I never have frozen the game during play, the only thing is that when I load too many files in Texmod, the game can not load a save (crash to desktop).
I have been very attentive to the application "ME3 Explorer", this allows you to change the textures directly into the game folder, but for now only works with resolutions of 1024x1024 dds.
I will continue pending a possible option to add textures in HD with this software.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit, 12 GB's of Corsair DDR3 Ram @1600 Mhz, and 2 NVidia GeForce 470's in SLI mode, and still run into an occasional frame stutter with all of the Hi Res Tex mods of smarteks that I use. But I LOVE EM ALL!!!! Would LOVE to see one for Tali...but I hear she is quite a nightmare to do.

AWESOME work Smartek...and Thank you so VERY much for doing these....BioWare NEEDS to give you a HIGH PAYING job! :)

jajajajaa .. thanks for your words.

We will work to have good textures, even we have to load them in groups via Texmod. Changing files from one mission to another mission. :P

SLI has an inherit microstutter caused by the alternate frame rendering that SLI uses. Only way I've seen this reduced is with triple or quad SLI according to tests, because it spreads the load over more than two cards.

Stutter due to texture loading issues and problems with optimization has nothing to do with microstutter. They are two separate issues. And microstutter isn't necessarily noticable in every game, or even at all in two card configurations. I've had SLI, 3-Way SLI and Quad-SLI systems from the GeForce 6800 Ultra all the way to the GTX 580's and I've never had issues save for the 9800GX2's. Those were terrible. One wasn't too bad but two of them in Quad-SLI was horrendous. On the AMD side I've seen the problem more frequently, but with some generations I've not seen it at all. The X1800XT's sucked, the X800XT's were terrible, but the X1950XTX's and Pro's were fantastic. The 4870 X2's I never could make work right, so I had deeper issues beyond microstuttering. The 5970's were terrible.

But running out of VRAM can cause frame rate dips even in single GPU systems. It's hard to think 1.5GB of RAM may not be enough but these textures are quite a bit larger than the stock ones. When you get into loading up all of these, it gets pretty demanding. I've hit every bit of 3GB of VRAM using these mods. I've had frame rate issues in some spots, but nothing too serious. Noticable, but not unplayable. Though before the Normandy textures were optimized some, I had some issues approaching the galaxy map.

Indeed. It's been my go to gun for most missions since Mass Effect 2.

Ok guys,

It's bedtime for me.

I recommend the textures of the Academy, take several days trying to finish it, for lack of time. I the optimized as much as I could.
They look outstanding in the game. :D

It will be up tomorrow, if nothing happens around here .... not stop shaking for months, is crazy as the earth moves.

I really think this thread should be moved to the new Fan Creations forum. It'd make it much easier to find/keep track of, and it'd be forum appropriate for those seeking it out.

Also less likely to be buried by nonsense and throes of 'artistic integrity'. The General forums have never been a, hrm, 'enjoyable' place to hang around. Strictly my opinion, of course.

Smarteck, if you agree with my sentiments here (regarding the move, specifically), I would suggest sending a PM to one of the moderators (Chris Priestly being the most likely?) and petition to get it moved. I think this would benefit the community better there.

I appreciate the appreciation you show for the work presented here. The truth is that I prefer not to change the post URL, as in many other sites already link to this URL.

I did not know of the existence of exclusive creations that place, I think I might start a new post there, add samples and information and then link the downloads to this place.

EDIT. I can not create a new post. Only show: "You do not meet the Requirements to post in this forum".

You could create a new topic, and share with the people of that place the contents of this post?.

Was on a bit of a break, and came back to get some (not all) of the new textures as well as the Optimized. I've got all Optimized excluding EDI and Liara (using the other fellow's from earlier in the thread). Suddenly... crashes!

This TextMod error must be what I'm experiencing. I've got a 2GB vid card, and 8GB RAM with a quad, turbo, hyper-thread i7. I could get into the game, start the load ("coffee and laptop screen") and then suddenly get a CTD error with no apparent explanation through any of my system checks.

Any known way around this TexMod+Too many files error?
