It takes me six to 8 minutes to load 68 textures when starting up the game. RAM by itself doesn't improve performance in games. It simply speeds up loading and prevents disk swapping which can lead to hitching. Are you running a 32bit copy of Windows or a 64bit?

I hated the first run of the dark Cobra launcher. The blue just doesn't work with darker gray. Almost makes the thing look purple'ish. So I'm changing it up more than I wanted to initially. Right now it is a medium gray with an OD green replacing all blue areas on the weapon. This is the best look I've found for it so far.

But it definitely isn't white anymore. Let me know what you guys think:

Yes exactly, however I got used of Adrenaline Rush in SP, and now I both find it hard to get used to it in MP and find it less effective overall in Gold.

And yeah, anything but the Widow and the Valiant are making you pretty much useless in terms of damage in Gold, if not a liability. I have absolutely no opinion about the Revenant - never liked it, never used it much. Actually I do not like any rifles but the Mattock, so there's that.

Now regarding the textures; yes someone already has made a higher resolution texture for Valiant, but I was thinking maybe one of you guys could make an ultra high quality texture, correct some coloring, add better shadows around it and so on.

I do not know how to express it properly, but similarly to the Missile Launcher, you made it look more real besides increasing the texture's quality, something I have seen in other weapons made by smarteck and others, but the Valiant available is not really following that style and I cannot really say it is made of good resolution.

So I was hopping for a Valiant which I could gaze uppon!

Thanks for giving a try on this one, however I must say that this looks like a dirty, overused Missile Launcher - which is not bad, it is of a different style and I do like it actually, but I would not call it "Dark Edition".

Personally I was hoping for something like these:

I can simply make it darker. I had the dark edition Mattock in mind when I did this and it shows all the use and abuse of the original, and while being darker, it isn't really all that dark either. The Black Locust is a different animal all together. I can do that if desired.

Do not take this too far, I do not understand the artistic differences between them.

All I can notice is the other weapons being darker and somewhat prettier, however I might be wrong - if you had the Mattock dark edition in mind when you made this; maybe I 'misinterpreted' the screenshot.

Actually I cannot really know until I try it out and compare it in my own monitor.

I will go and try the Black Locust now, just because you made me curious as hell.

You can see it in your screenshots. The Mattock is really only a gray color and still shows all the scratches and abuse of the original. In fact it looks like the original weapon with the N7 logo and a red stripe applied with a color filter changing the tan color to gray.

The other weapons you've posted project links to basically make a lot of the weapons black or pretty close to it. There is nothing wrong with that but this obscures details. That's always something I've wished to avoid doing. This is why going with pure black textures are problematic.

The missile launcher above is also darker than it appears in that screenshot. I went into high lighting so that it could be seen better. But much of the time it does appear darker than that.

Did you scroll way down to the "Dark Edition" Mattock? 

It really seems darker to me than the missile launcher, but not pitch black as the Locust, that's true.

Am I missing something?

It is a bit darker. I may need to get a different texture for this than I have. I can take those parts to black, but they don't look very good. The texture has too many scratches in it and it looks like most of the black paint was scratched off.

I take metal textures and I adjust their color, brightness and hue settings to suit my needs at the time. I'll find something that looks better, darker. But that Mattock looks like the same texture, just with a filter applied to it to make it darker. I've tried that here and with the stock texture and the results didn't look good. Then again it might look OK in the game. Sometimes something looks bad in Photoshop, but looks great in the actual game.

EDIT: I think I've found a way to give you what you are looking for. It's almost as dark as the Black Widow. Testing now.

In every game, think of the same thing: Cheating is what gives unfair advantage over other players. However that does not mean having a better graphics card or connection can be translated as cheating.

So since you will not play Mass Effect in some league like ESL which have specific guidelines and regulations; do you feel as if you are gaining an unfair advantage by adding better and more realistic textures? In my opinion, no.

How about making all enemies bright green? Maybe yes.

How about making your weapons have 1000% more damage and make your character immortal? Certaintly yes.

Just do whatever you think looks best, if the one you already made (the a bit darker version) is what is canon for you, please share it, but I cannot really give any suggestions at all especially when you are telling me it will probably look worse.

Maybe take on the Locust road?

You said that they "might look OK in the game", maybe you can give me a couple of versions you want me to try and I will post the screenshots here if that helps?

I've been using textures in mutliplayer for a while now and I haven't been banned for it. My coalesced.ini file is modifed as well. I modified it only to allow for 4096x4096 texture sizes. Nothing more. And BioWare officially stated that the only thing they are concerned with is people modding the game for an unfair advantage. I don't think Texmod qualifies in any way for that.

In any case I'm asking you what you guys want, and trying to deliver it because I can. I've often taken requests for mods and done my best to accomodate them. Mostly I make mods so that the game looks better to me, and for the most part that means making higher resolution of textures that keep the game looking "stock" but better. In this case I do agree that the launcher is hideous and I can't stand the white either. That darker gray one I made is fine by me, but if you are looking for darker, I can do that. It's not that hard to manipulate these.

Well I switched textures and darkened the new one. Basically the modified parts used for a high resolution version of the original and the gray one I took screenshots above just don't work. So I went with a different one. We'll see how it looks. It is what I did for the Black Widow, but slightly lighter so you can see it better.

I'll test it and report back as soon as I can get the damn game to connect.

Which version? The last one I did got a proper light map and a normal map. The first one doesn't have that.

Here is this one. I can still go darker, than that, but it will start to lose detail if I take it too much further. You can go all black but then your detail lines have to become light instead of dark, which means redrawing them or processing them as inverted. (If separate.) I can also change the green out for something else. I liked it on the gray one but I'm not sure I like it here.

Here is the high resolution standard version for anyone that wanted it, and missed it. (Yes I know it's mislabled as "Hydra". Sort of. It's the Hydra in the single player game on Thessia.

Smartek, if you have .TPF extractor, you can just pull what you need out of that. If you don't, let me know. I can send you the files directly. If you need me to redo the light map or the normal map from your modified texture, I can. I've gotten pretty good at editing / creating those files.

This version of the Widow rifles pack includes new normal maps, light maps and changes to their textures. I actually learned how to edit those textures since I made the original widow rifle mods. Paladin, Mattock, etc all do now. The only mod I have out there that isn't updated like that is the Liara default armor I did. I've been meaning to fix that. Her "From Ashes" DLC armor has a light map but uses the stock normal map. I'll fix that one as well, but that one is pretty decent as it is. The light map is the most important of the two.

I also owe you screenshots to the latest and hopefully last N7 Defender version. I need to accept that I'll always find little things I could improve on, but that it isn't worth editing and replacing it each time I find something small.

Is there a newer version than this one?

Also from the screenshot I think the darker version looks perfect, but I will load it up and use it tomorrow and give you feedback, thanks for sharing!
