The fact of the matter is, we're all the same. If you add up all the games you have, your PS3, Xbox 360, or PC. You're probably well over $1000 on spending for your own entertainment. In the eyes of someone who thinks video games is a waste of time and money, they're gonna tell you exactly the same thing as what you're ranting on the OP. You're wasting your money!
So you say you could have given that $320 on donations to the poor? So why didn't you gather up all of that money you spent buying your systems and video games and give that to the poor? Guess what. You didn't. Why? Because you had the money to spend on something for yourself. Something that's not a necessity other than for your pure entertainment.
The man probably makes 6 figures a year. And who knows, he probably does donate 10% of his earnings to the poor. Point is, don't judge before looking at your own actions. Otherwise, you'd be labeled as a hipocrit.

also maybe its just me but i find games boring when i get all the cool stuff. sure its awsome for a few hours/days. its all about the journey not the destination. im also glad they added the promote my guy to reset them so i can play through the leveling again. like i said maybe its just me but its why i play games. im also highest on my friends leader board by just playing the game. course outa 5 people thats not hard lol. my N7 is 172 i think and i only use carnifex which ive only gotten to carnifex II. i can still rock out on silver/gold just fine so my rank means nothing.
in my OPINION i think this thread is pointless, like i stated if you dont like whats being sold dont buy it.

You're assuming that the people complaining make less money than the OP. It's very likely that's not the case. The truth is that microtransactions are more appealing to those on a lower SEL than those at a higher SEL.tonyng9 wrote...

Slapping down $320 is something that the average working American can do without problem. Spending the time needed to unlock all those thing normally would be much harder for someone who works 40-hours a week.
Economically speaking, people who work fulltime have a vested interest in time intensive activities not being devalued. After all, their time is a scarcity. When someone drops a couple hundred on items that are normally unlocked over time, it lowers the value of that time.
I paid $80 for ME CE.Cipher_73 wrote...

~$800 for the PC, and I buy 10-12 PC games a year. In fact, I typically budget at the beginning of the year for expected gaming purchases. The fact of the matter is, we're all the same. If you add up all the games you have, your PS3, Xbox 360, or PC. You're probably well over $1000 on spending for your own entertainment.
Not so. My buying games doesn't devalue books, movie tickets, or TV shows on DVD. They may find my purchases frivolous but it doesn't threaten the value of what they have.In the eyes of someone who thinks video games is a waste of time and money, they're gonna tell you exactly the same thing as what you're ranting on the OP. That said, I do believe EA is engaging in a form of gambling. If someone drops $200 in a slot machine, is furious at the results, and then drops another $120, I'd suggest they might have a problem.

The difference between spending $1000 on a bunch of games and spending $320 on a bunch of unlocks is that the former gets to play a bunch of games and the latter gets to write an angry post on the internet.
And this guy doesn't make $100,000. He's on disability payments from the govt.

The amount of money OP spent only seems like a lot if you've never held a job in your life. It's not an exactly smart use of money, but it IS his money. People have spent much more on a piece of hardware/software/funtime. See: Hookers, MacBooks. 320 is hardly spurging.
$320 is miniscule to spend on a videogame compared to the amount of money that goes into games like Second Life, World of Warcraft, EVE, Etc. But it's absolutley retarded amount to spend when every single item you buy is pure chance.

diffrence is mmos is usally pretty steady, its not like you randomly dump 320 dollars all at once, its usually spread out.

huh? If you paid $60 for WoW on release you could spend the next $260 for a year and a half of playtime. This guy spent $320 on ME3 or whatever and played it for a week before ragequitting.

Exactly.
That's why I said it's ridiculous, I wasn't supporting him.
Hell on the first page I told him I had no sympathy for him, because his reasons for buying all these things were just so he could get himself on the leaderboards. To Stroke his own ego.

It's because of fools like this that we have to deal with a stupid random unlock system. That fact that some, even if it's an incredibly small percentage of players, are willing play this ridiculous amount on random unlocks for a co-op mode of just one game only encourages and validates this business practice. The store should of had all the items listed at high in-game credit prices alongside cheaper random packs so dedicated players could save up for the unlocks they wanted. Instead we only have random unlock packs for everything, and the same will be for any future games with modes inspired by this, because it encourages spending like this in those that are either weak-willed, have their priorities way out of whack, or have way too much disposable income without the wisdom to know how to make better use of it.
I blame Free to Play games for being the source of this problem.
It's a legitimate Business Stragety in practice, but it screws with a lot of the actual execution of the game, often to the point that it overflows and -EVERYONE- Is doing it,
First time I ever did it was on APB Reloaded, and I immediatley regretted it.
ME3's on the other hand is different because like I said, leaving it to chance. It's a douche move really. I spent about $15 Max, and I got everything I wanted plus more

I think their point is going back to the fact that it's a single game.
I'm not going to deny that over the years I've spent Thousands of Dollars on Video games, Hardware and other things. But what did it add up to?
Well Two bookshelves full of software and Several Consoles and PCs,
*Laughably this seems like a negative comment, because it's all just piled up taking space and not getting used*
But the point is these people have something to show for their money that they spent.

I know people who play in this small community of about 300 people that have sent him thousands of dollars. This is donation money...it's not even legally a purchase....so they could get advanced items in game. A game that he could by all rights just unplug tommarow without any legal repercussions.
And the sad part is? MOST of the private mmo gaming communities are like that. Laggy servers with crappy bugs and zero development and there are people that will spend thousands of dollars on it.
This guy is NOT a bad guy. He's got money and he's spending it on what he wants to spend it on. You all need to get a grip.
Though I do feel bad for you on one count OP. In my first two spectre packs i got the geth shotgun and salarian infiltrator. My needs were met right away XD

This part I agree on. If you spent a rediculous amount of money, but didn't appreciate or enjoyed what you got and then set it aside for nothing. Then it's a complete waste of money. I've spent quite a bit on these DLC's too, but I love the MP part of ME3 and intend to play it quite a bit. I've gotten a lot of good stuff, mainly the M-99 Saber. My entertainment purchases were well worth it.
