Why is the only argument against changing the endings come down to fairy tale?

As others have stated ad nausium, the reason the ending makes zero sense is thus.

Reapers = synthetic/organic hybrid race, that kills all organic civilizations every 'cycle', yes that's right, kills, as being liquefied doesn't leave much room for living on no matter how much they want to spew the "we're ascending your people" line.

These reapers do this to make sure synthetics don't rise up and kill all organics.. So to solve all organics being killed by synthetics, you systematically kill all organics, over and over and over..

Hah. As ridiculous as it is, I get the 'logic'.

The idea is that all organic life, everywhere will eventually be destroyed by synthetics in a single cycle if they're left to their own devices. And by harvesting the dominent species every 50,000 years or so they're preventing the extinction from happening all at once. A galactic stalling tactic.

Whenever someone doesn't want the ending changed, they say "fairy tale"? No one wants a fairy tale ending, they want one that makes sense and is internally consistant. They don't even formulate an argument, just say fairy tale

Also we'd like ending to be outcome of earlier decisions and war preparation.

Because what people is asking for falls under the fairy tale category.
Everyone reunited, everyone alive, everyone happy forever and ever after.

Uh. Everyone is NOT asking for that. Some people are.

And even if the 'fairytale people' got their wish and their little blue babies. It's still in a galaxy that's been utterly devestated by the war. So there is no shiny happy ending. It's more about  a hopeful ending and seeing society start to rebuild.

I hate the ending. Passionately. But I was content with Anderson and my Shep bleeding out on the Citadel watching the battle over earth. Add in the Crucible working as a giant Reaper Kill switch at that point and I would have been happy. Mission accomplished.
