I think i missed something during the game... i realized afterwards...  the citadel seemed to appear at earth... just *poof* like.     It was all so epic at that time i kinda shrugged it off.. but post epic fail ending... I pondered it more.

The Reapers moved the Citadel to the Sol System because the Illusive Man relayed information about the Crucible and the Alliances intentions, so they wanted to protect it. They were afraid of what the fleets and Shepard had planned. It's mentioned after your complete the Cerebrus Base and talking to Hackett.

I think his question is how physically did the citadel get moved.

Probably has its own mass effect core, though i am unsure how it being a relay itself would act.

Would it relay itself there or just use the relay nearby in the widow nebula?

but why move it to where all galaxy fleets are flying to? for epicness or what? they could move it anywhere and we would never find it. problem solved.

exactly... So they just showed up and towed it? it can move? I know it is a relay in itself... but wouldn't they have just shut the doors and locked the reapers out? How did they get into it to control it? It looked pretty alive and kicking during the ending... the backgrounds showed cars and lights everywhere... kinda odd.

Yeah, I thought it was mentioned in ME1 or elsewhere in the series that the Citadel was massive and was where it was originally because it *couldn't* move in the same sense a starship does, totally lacking engines and all, and being a giant relay that just so happens to also be able to support life. Crucible and Catalyst and Reaper origins aside, that also brings to mind another question- what about the keepers? Much is said of them in the first two games, only to have them get seen all of twice in the third game, mentioned not at all, and fall completely off the radar into the pit of non-explanation that also houses the reapers, the dark energy theory, and several other issues others are sharing concerns about when it comes to the endings and the motivations that drove players to said endings...

I like to think it got towed by Reapers because that visual is hilarious.

magic, its the only idea that makes sense. There is no way that TIM could take the entire station by himself.

As far as I understand, those are the corpses of the people that get relayed from the earth. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense, why would I go fetch all that crap they wanted if they'd die anyway.

iirc, I was looking through the CE Art Book and it mentioned briefly that those were Cerberus forces. But that was if they went through with the idea of having a final battle with TIM.

edit: I think it's safer to assume that those are the bodies from Earth.

This is more of a 'why' than a 'how'

I thought the thing was stationary.... so massive it couldn't be moved. The control mechanism that let the reapers control it was deactivated and according the codex when closed the thing is neigh impossible to destroy. Yet it poofed to earth in the span of 1 mission.

Considering how large the Reapers are themselves, not impossible for several of them to show up, close down the Citadel and tow it. In the first ME, the Citadel is said to only be a relay into dark space, it doesn't link up with the other relays, so I don't think the Citadel itself could hop through the relay network. Would have to be physically moved

As for the residents... I'd imagine that when the Reapers arrived to retrieve the Citadel, they dropped troops into it to start harvesting the humans there and likely killed and converted the aliens.

The idea of Reapers using tractor beams or tow ropes to move the Citadel is amusing.

I'm sorry, but the mental image of Reapers towing the Citadel around just completely lolworthy.

I AM ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL OF THIS TOW ROPE.

I wonder how many Reapers it takes to tow the Citadel.
