Idk what to play they all seem very interesting. I'd like to know how the mage developes its spells and everything.
Also i'd like to know how all classes go after playing a while... if its not too much to ask.. i'd just like to choose a class and not regret it once im halfway into the game or something like that.(i suck at choosing classes)

Btw Happy Thanksgiving.

Might be better off to ask in the Gameplay forum, so I'll move you over there.

How people play the game is going to be critical to what character choice and development path works best for them. You're going to get a lot of advice on how to go; hope it helps you decide.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

I'd avoid mage for reasons that don't need to be gotten into here (it's a big discussion).

Warrior is probably a straight-up solid bet, but myself, I went Rogue because I really like the Bard specialization.

Nothing says you can't make a few characters to play through the origins and see what you'd enjoy better. Despite some of the handwringing you might read on these forums all classes are viable.

If you'd like a straight up smash mouth figher, I'd go warrior.
If you'd like to play with a little finesse and utility, I'd go rogue.
Want to play a nuker with options for great crowd control and /or healing, mage-- though it will spoil you rotten for this game. :)

Don't get into the trap of thinking there's just your main character, and that's the only role you play. You have other characters in your party, and like it or not when you take control of them you are alternately the tank, dps/cc, and healer.

Happy Turkeyday.

imo play through as a warrior because there are multiple heavy+massive armours to collect in the game. Also, your warrior can equip a bow, sword+shield, 2h or dual wield even without the required talents. Shield bash can be used with a bow if you have a shield on your weapon switch. And since you can buy extra talent books a warrior has the most options if you are going for hybrid you'll have more than 20 talent points to play with.

2handed has aoe damage, and dual wield has aoe damage so both give you options in combat. The warrior specializations also give you very useful tools in combat, like warcry with knockback, or dispelling magic for low cost and low cooldown.

Mage is kinda a spoiler class. If you want a good solid playthrough go for warrior with heavy or massive armor since you will end up running into combat first with your party following.

Well, depends on your tastes really. If you like sneaking around, disarming traps and stabbing people in the back, go for rogue. If you like to be able to take some hits or swing around a big hammer, pick a warrior. If you like to rain death on your enemies, control the crowds and heal your allies, go for the mage.

I've played them all and I'd say that the mage is the most powerful class if played and specced right. It's also really fun to play and build.

as Metallisika said depends by your taste

keep in mind that mage will need more management to be effective but is more versatile and generally more powerfull than others if used right, you can even turn it into a sort of war with AW spec

warrior is the class that need less management you can max the tankage or get a decent tank and dps (get wyn as heal bot), if mages needs a bit of finess putting up good strats, positioning, placing aoe and so on... a warrior can just jump in and bash stuff around him making it very "immediate" to play (just stay away from zerker spec :P)

with rog i have not much experience but is a sort of inbetween... to max rog dmg you have to position for backstab also you have a few more tricks than a war but is not as sturdy

Mage is the most powerful, warrior requires the least through (though still some, and I suggest dual wield first time around), rogue requires the most micromanaging to get the most out of.

All are fine, but I find my mage is a bit /too/ easy (though I suppose I should just turn up the difficulty).

I really enjoyed my dual wield warrior.

DW rogue. Nothing more infuriating in this game than locked chests in your origins story.

I'm having a blast playing as a rogue. Lots of fun tricks and you can do some massive damage.

There are only 3 classes, you can get the gist of how they all play in the first 30 mins. Just try them out.

only played mage so far and i can tell you that it was really fun

i was way better than all my companions and i loved raping all the enemies with super spell combos

paralyze them all and then rain fire upon them

only problem with mage is that you will often kill your party because of friendly fire

but oh well

nothing a few injury kits can't fix

Mage is most fun from a character-building perspective, but it is easy to lay waste to room after room of enemies. There are a few spells that 'break the game', though.

Warrior is a solid choice. Dual Wield is probably best, and you don't get any dual wield warrior companions so you feel more unique. Warriors IMO have a rough start and take some gear to get good.

Don't do an archer for your first playthrough, it takes a bit to figure out what you should do with it.

Roll 1d3.

Also no matter what you choose, your PC is very likely to be "better" than the rest of the party.

As for your questions... Strangely, I think DAO may be a unique case of linear mages / quadratic warriors, contrary to the trope.

Signed.

A Warrior can be left on auto-mode. Also usually you end up either wear massive armour and being tough & tankish and never using active abilities or wearing lighter armour, having less Fatigue and stances active and being a paper-tank a rogue might easily outlast.

Mage got a load of options and is very powerfull, but the fact that you can access best spells by level 2-3 (like Cone of Cold... ok for tier 4spells Magic requirements might require you to rach level 8.. still early) kinda spoils the fun.
Might become a bit old after a while constantly spamming the same spell combo's. Depends on your taste I guess. The spell system is varied and rich. The combos are innovative and very cool.

Rogue has pretty much the best single-target DPS (on par with dual-wield warriors), Stealth, lots of utility (locks, traps, thievery). Also requires carefull micromanagement to position properly in battle. Can even have very solid defence if Dex based.

I'm also having a blast playing my Rogue.
