Time constraints, cutting corners, contractual agreements... I know EA could really screw BioWare if they failed to meet a legally agreed upon deadline. I've just come to expect so much more frin BioWare, DAII and now this. Granted I actually enjoyed playing this game unlike DAII and the corners weren't cut all that bad in this production. I'm saying that with a sense of fear that some might think I'm okay with it. I certainly am not, I may be understanding but I don't approve of it. I expect more from BioWare, it's not meeting its past standards.

I can understand using stock art, to an extent. As an author, I have a wonderful cover artist for my books and most of what she uses is stock art as well(not my books personally, as I hire an artist, but other authors in the publishing company I am in). But those are book covers, not game art. Why hire artists to develop and design characters and worlds if you're going to disregard their designs to cut/paste pictures you found on the internet?
I'm sure they've done it with other stuff and we just don't know it...but yeah. I don't know. I feel so uncomfortable knowing this about my favorite gaming company.

I don't understand why people keep whining about this. Have you put the two images next to each other? They're not the same image at all. They look a like, but it's not theft. Welcome to about every form of art.
There are more than enough topics regarding this. Did you really feel that this needed yet another topic?
Stop bashing for the sake of bashing, this is not the same as the Tali photo debacle.

How is photoshoping one image different than another? I suppose a compassion would be nice.

Oh, who said it's theft. It's just lazy work.

It's not lazy. Dev teams use a lot of stock images throughout the development process. I'm a concept designer and illustrator and believe me, if you can get something that fits the tone and theme of what you're working on, you snap it up like a night with Emma Stone.

If it's a stock photo, it's up for grabs. No "theft" going on there.

Stock or not, it's a very clear sign of laziness or haste.
They needed some last-minute motivational picture in space, so they spent 5-10 minutes looking at wallpapers.

Are you guys blind or do you see what you want to see? Something that supports your opinion about BioWare and EA?
Granted the Tali thing was kind of weak, but it was a free stock image and it was photoshopt. Still, this image is nothing of the same kind.
The images look alike but are not copied. Why can't people pay more attention. The image BioWare used is not a photoshopped image of the google search image at all. If you can't see that, than I suppose you take a better look at the details. The lightning is different, the color tones are different, the planets in the sky are different.
It is one thing to say that BioWare used an image as inspiration (which happens a LOT, you only have to look at the planets which are textured by NASA photos). But a total other thing to acuse BioWare of stealing images from the internet.
