As a U.S. Army veteran, I have to say that Vega's persona is largely realistic. It was very interesting to see a more realistic military type in the Alliance. I knew a few people who were very similar to him.
Too bad he's now stranded on some distant garden world with the rest of my traitorous rebel crew who fled me in my final moments of need after all we'd been through together.
I was just thinking the same thing, Vegas just like this fellow sgt i knew in one of my old units, a big roided out cuban american. He wasn't the brightest, but he was a good soldier and a solid guy. Personaly, I felt like he was one of the more realistic characters on the normandy.
