Transformers: War for Cybertron
Warhammer 40k : Space Marine
etc...
Stop with the lazy ports, especially if you don't give us access to Steam chat by using Origin.

I asked one of our multiplayer designers about the lack of text chat. He's aware of the problem. I can't promise any fix because I can't speak for him and what he's able to do, but I just wanted to let you all know we're aware of the concern.
That was a long time ago though.

Also, have text chat available in the lobby as well. It should be pretty obvious, but just in case...

They fixed it by removing it from the key bindingsTwwlX wrote...
I thought text chat was only disabled for the demo? Wasn't it greyed out in the key bindings? C'mon, BioWare! How can you leave out such a basic PC function out of your game?

but for Xbox360 and ps3 aswell.
Look at Shadowruns Team Speak method, it was a D-Pad oriented speach system, to call for help in the area you are in (it says it when you walk in the area on the top right of your screen right now anyways), each direction was a different hotkeyed teamspeak command.
It would be a way for you to say "Atlas! Coming our way" or whatever it would be. use the already voiced out files where the toons randomly yell, just let us control it to tell people,
Left 4 dead implemented this with its L3 Button, (Left Thumbstick clicked in)
Your specific actor/player would then yell according to what you were aimed at.
"TANK!" or "Hunter!"
IMO
Edit: Make it the backbutton lol. or L3?

And that's usually -one- player who uses it. The rest could be mutes for all I know.
The ultimate downside to implementing chat is the possiblity for abuse. Spamming. Trolling. Chatting.
Sometimes I'm glad I don't have to put up with any more noobishness than what I see in half the Silver games.
Still, it could help the learning curve, too.

However, based on my game play experiences so far in ME3 multiplayer I would support the addition of text chat. The few I have chatted with over voice chat seemed friendly and cooperative throughout the match. Although, I encourage everyone to use voice chat whether it be the provided in-game chat or a third party application. A team communicating with each other that way gives a better sense of cooperation and comradery, improving on the gaming experience.
