Although I can read and write pretty fluently, ermm.. speaking is a different story. xD
Sometimes I use it as a motivation to practice speaking... but then there's a silence and it's soooo awkward!!! Hahaha!
Text would be very helpful. xD

There has been a key bind for it since the demo. Looks like they can't get much past porting a console game.

I don't understand why begging for text chat, when you have voice chat. And when are you going to chat? In the middle of the wave? For all other situations you have Origin text chat. I really don't want chat window hanging on a screen. If so much people asking for this, at least make it avaliable to turn it off, please )
People don't generally have microphones....

Personally, i think they need to improve the quality of the voice chat and give us a On The Fly Wheel of messages, like Left 4 Dead, i beliave its easier to implement.

Sad. I play on Xbox but I think every PC game should have text chat, including this game.

There are deaf and/or mute players out there who still want to communicate with a team. That is the most extreme example, but I know at least one deaf BSN member who has been wanting text chat. For everyone else, it can be just a matter of not wanting to disturb other people in the household, especially at night, or that they don't have the funds to get a mic. Currently, I can't speak due to strep throat, so I'm out of luck if I come across a group that only wants to play with people that communicate. If it works in Battlefield, CS, and other combat heavy games, it shouldn't be a problem in ME3.
Tl;dr: People want to be able to communicate where using a mic isn't an option to them.
Edit: If it isn't clear enough, I support this.

And visible bleedout timers, but that's another issue.

Was going to say something like this as well. This game doesn't even have captions for what the characters say in MP, or, for example, when a Banshee screams.
Again, this is also why it's important to be able to see when people are talking to you. If you can't even tell when people are trying to communicate it's just as bad.
