People with hearing issues
Women who don't want abuse for being female
Women who don't want to get hit on
Teenagers who don't want abuse for having squeaky voices

People who play in the same room as family/flatmates and don't want to disturb them
People who feel uncomfortable using mics
People who play music while they are playing and don't want to troll their teammates

...and that list is off the top of my head with no hard thinking required.

Try to realise it is not a case of either voice or text chat. This is a petition to have both. The people I play with who have mics very occasionally use them ingame to call out phantoms or such and never between games. Once we started using an IM program so we could all group chat between games and set games up, our group became a nice friendly community of people, having a lot more fun.

just as long its for the pc i could see it as a great way to talk to the ones that dont want to speak, but i wonder if it would actually  be worth due you need to be able to type and move at the same time unless some gamers can find away to type while they're without a gamepad

Yeah this should have been implemented on launch.  Very poor decision/oversight.
