+1. Was doing a solo round and was cleaning up wave 10 and WILD DUDE SUDDENLY APPEARED. And I have no microphone so I can't tell him/her to go away and let me wrap up my solo right! Items all gone down the drain for nothing.

The problem is far larger than just Text Chat for multiplayer. There is definately some crazy policy or EA mandate / EA server restriction which is preventing Bioware developers from making direct game content changes for PC only. They are definately aware of the many things that PC port is missing but their response is still absolute silence. Funny thing is that many of these problems don't even take that many working hours to fix. Here is more speculation:

ONLY in the lobby, not in-match. Platinum players will be screwed if people start chatting in the match. So if it's just for lobby, sure, if it's for in-match, screw that, no way.
