+1. Had an awesome game with some guy that had a mic, and we were only 2 against final waves. It was Cerberus but it was hard, and we were outnumbered. He said nice things, like "Woah, we 2-manned this ****, awesome job". AND I COULDN'T REPLY, I DIDN'T HAVE MY MIC NEAR ME AND I CAN'T USE TEXT CHAT. This is 2012, people....
lol ya I kinda know that feeling, last night I nearly soloed a Bronze after the host left and I was tossed into a game...Alone..got to the 9th wave and got over ran lols.

Also, while you're adding text chat to missions, add one for the game lobby too.

I'm not trying to argue or make life difficult for anyone....so (not that it matters) I change my stance. Eventhough I strongly believe if it is implemented NO ONE will use the voice chat, if so many ppl want it then so be it.
But you did say that what I said about there being almost no one being annoying a "fallacy". So you're saying what said was false....which is the same as saying I'm lying.
The argument that "Because I've never had a problem with online behavior with other people, no one else has." is a fallacy. The argument is a fallacy, not your experience. Your experience is yours, I can't comment on that at all. I can comment about mine, and my friends as we've jumped into a number of different lobbies.

So if Bioware implements text chat I sincerely hope that it will be optional, and that it can be totally ignored/turned off.

This reminds me of the cry babies that get booted from Left 4 Dead and don't have a mic. Specifically on realism you have to have one if you expect to survive. To play ME3 MP well it is the same thing.

Ah and of course, everyone has perfect English accent that everyone can understand, and everyone has no problems talking to strangers in foreign language...
Not me, I don't have any problem with that, but saying "Just buy a mic you lazy peasant" is a dickish way of trying to explain why a basic multiplayer function isn't implemented in a modern game.

You must have sucked at Left 4 Dead lol.
And no you don't on ME3, common sense on the team is enough.

What makes Alrefie come off as a d*** even more is the fact that the poster just above him had just stated that text chat would be useful because he is deaf.

Public transport removed, response: "Get a car.".
Shops no longer sell milk, response: "Get a cow.".
...Don't get all mad at me, just some humour.

Please, add chat. Even if I say something in voicechat, nobody actually answers. It's not like with console-packages that are sold, you don't get a mic when you buy an PC. So you can't expect everyone to already have one, or everyone to buy one.

LOL, you're kidding right? If you know the maps you don't need a mic on L4D2, in fact you can even solo them all on realism expert. In most cases you re better of with bots anyway. Someone yelling "HELP ME IM IN FRONT OF THE DOOR" (great, idiot! which door?) into their mics @ l4d2 isnt helping anyone, actually effectively drowning out the sound of the character ingame which would make it easy to locate him.Alrefie wrote...

Also, microphones (at least in public matches) are only really popular in the US. Europe/Asia mostly doesn't used microphones on public matches, at least from my experience. I have a mic too, I use it when I play with friends but I wouldn't even remotely think about plugging it in when im playing public. Why? Because we use it for having a good time, joking around etc. and not to scream orders in mics that no one follows anyway.
In L4D i even muted the voicechat of others in public games, it didn't happen often that we got an annoying 13 year old in our team though, but it was good that you can mute them if you wish to.
As for ME3: I played about 5-6 hrs of multiplayer so far, and I only encountered one person who was using a mic at all. Fortunately he wasn't annoying.
TL;DR: Mics in public matches are a no-go for me and many others, mostly they create more confusion and chaos than anything else, and they surely can't replace the good old text chat :3
edit: also, what Radwar said.

I'd also love to be able to move abilities on my damn hotbar like I can in SP, since rebinding keys every time I change characters is getting really damn annoying.

I have to wonder if you even played L4D.
L4D on the PC was in pretty much in the same predicament as ME3 is in now -- players simply not communicating. And if you were on the L4D forums in the months after its release, you would have seen the PC players were screaming for Text Chat, and making basically the same arguments that ME3 players are making now.
In L4D, despite probably around 100+ hours of playtime, much of that in Co-Op, I have yet to to encounter more than a handful of matches where players were actually using their mics to do anything more than be jerks. The result? The vast majority of players simply don't communicate on any level.
For PC players, Text Chat is a must.

So... you're saying BioWare can't develop a text-based chat into Mass Effect 3? I would strongly recommend to re-think this statement, because that doesn't sound very... capable. :/Sylvf wrote...

I asked one of our multiplayer designers about the lack of text chat. He's aware of the problem. I can't promise any fix because I can't speak for him and what he's able to do, but I just wanted to let you all know we're aware of the concern.
Aware of it and doing something about it are two very different things!
Ha, I wish I had more for you. I miss text chat myself.
