This is a game breaking crash that occurs on a later mission, so fair warning spoilers.

This happens during the Quarian mission string when you have to board the Geth Dreadnought to un screw the Reaper stuff.

After boarding the Geth Ship once you create the false fire alarms to get the door to open and you finish clearing out a wave of Geth you then go through a previously locked door.  You have a few levels to climb down via ladders.  At one point you hear a big bang followed by Tali saying "Priority Message! A planetary defense cannon" then BOOM Crash to Desk Top.  Every single time...every single time...

So yea, between the storms that knock my net out, meaning I can't even play single player and now this bug I am getting a lot of time to play other games that are not spelled Mass Effect.

GG Bioware.

So a few updates.

The crash log from Event Viewer
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: MassEffect3.exe
Application Version: 1.1.5427.4
Application Timestamp: 4f46d052
Fault Module Name: MSVCR90.dll
Fault Module Version: 9.0.30729.6161

Exception Offset: 0003af7c
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

I went ahead and validated the MSVCR90.DLL, tried turning graphics to low, audio off.

I very very slowly snuck up on the spot where the crash occurs. Once the audio started to play I stopped moving and the exchange played through. I started to move again, slowly and boom CTD. This makes me think its not the audio but something specific to that one point on the map. I tried going down the walkway every which way, skirting every edge, using roll, Nova, everything to get by, CTD every time.

Rebooted the PC, even restarted the mission with a different crew. Nothing lets me by with out a CTD.

This is the first CTD I have had with 17 hrs game time and LOTS of multiplayer. Broke game is Broke. Guess I just wait until BW patches, chances are by the time they do that I will have lost interest. The quest log is so awful I really have to keep track of a lot of stuff in my head, as in it doesn't update with objectives as you move through a quest so you have to keep a mental checklist. Doubt I will remember all the little things I had going on a week from now and there is no in game notification about what to do. Point is, I won't get back into it. Sure a few months from now I will want to know how the game ends and just read the Wiki.

Further updates. Applied any optional Windows patches I had outstanding, ran a Malware scan (nothing found).

Went so far as to restart the mission a third time...same results. I am unable to load a save previous to the mission and just go do something else in SP, all saves are WAY before.

Also tried in Window Mode.  Still crashes.

Another tactic, I ran forward to the point where I know the crash occurs, I spammed the Quick Save button until the game CTDd.  Loaded the Quick save and it CTDs as soon as it loads.

I am feeling pretty confident at this point it is an issue with the game client.

To further clarify this is game breaking, with this bug the game can not progress, you can't just go back.  Game is Just broken.

Still trying to figure this out. As you can see, I want to play this game, although the desire is waning rapidly. With this nut roll and what I put up with TOR I am pretty much done with anything with Bioware on it. After seeing the half-effort MP was given for PC I don't know why I expected the QA to be any better...

Anyways back to the subject at hand. I uninstalled the offending 9.0.30729.6161 version of C++ Redist and am using an earlier version, 9.0.30729.4940. Guess what...it still crashes, log below.

Got through the bug. Not sure the exact fix, I cleared all .NET C++ Framework installs and reinstalled all, rebooted and ran a repair on ME3 from Origin. Ended up getting through the mission and all seems well.

Suggest the same to anyone who has the same issues. Both are pretty fast fixes.
