What is the technical difference between selectable and
regular characters? I flag somewhere or this could be a pure but serious technical
problem of controlling creatures by a gamer, for instance not sufficient animations
e.g. missing animation sequences for romancing with Alistair or Morrigan can crush the game. Dogs can be
controlled (can a dog be a group leader/PC? Dialogues would be messed up, I
have to test that) and what about really bad guys? May be, some sort of
summoning or transformation.

You should be able to use Hurlock/Genlock models, either by setting them up as a new race or just by having them as clothes/armour. Non-humanoid models aren't going to work as they use different animation sets.

Archdemon, would be insanely hard to do, though I think I have seen some mode having it as a shapeshifting option. The mod Emissionary (sp?) allows you to play an Ogre, as well as a Hurlock and a Genlock.

Isn't it possible to add an Ogre to the party with golem controls and some of the ogre-spesific talents like grab. And make it the party leader and get rid of the Jaden? (Jaden = empty useless standard character)

Just speculations though.
