I've been wanting to say this since I finished ME3 yesterday, but to be honest, right now I can't find enough words to put it all down. I'm a ps3 user so my experience in the Mass Effect universe is comprised of the Interactive Comic backstory for ME1 and the whole of ME2 and 3. I LOVED ME2 from a roleplaying standpoint. The relationships that my Shep developed with all of the squadmates were deep to the point where I couldn't deal with losing any of the squadmates for fear that I wouldnt see them in ME3. So, naturally, I busted my ass replaying ME2 multiple times until I managed to complete a playthrough with everyone alive. Additionally, I gained a LI in the character that I thought was the most interesting and would fit my Shep romantically in the best way. Jack. As time rolled on and the release of ME3 got closer and closer, I became more and more excited thinking about how I would be able to team with my squadmates again for the big final battle and when it was all over, I would be able to have a happy ending with my LI Jack, having saved the galaxy from destruction. Unfortunately as I went on in the game, I found that almost each and every squadmate from ME2 is nothing more than a bit part in this game that you only ever see once or twice in passing. Also, to say that my Shep was able to "continue" my relationship with my LI would be a gross overstatement. On top of the endings being hopelessly unsatisfying, Mass Effect 3 feels as though everything I managed to establish in Mass Effect 2 means absolutely nothing. Not only in terms of the fate of the Galaxy, but on my Shepard as a character as well.

That is a sentiment shared by many and I don't think they really considered the ps3 aspect. Those users have no connection to Liara, Kaidan, or Ashley. Well, Liara is there in Shadow Broker but not enough to really connect with her. Your first introduction to these characters was in ME2, so I feel your pain. While I played mostly on the 360, I knew the other three and Garrus quite well. However, I did not form any connection with them as characters as I did for the ones in ME2, probably because they had you sort out their personal issues. They made you get personally involved in their lives if you wanted them all to live. The only one I connected with was Garrus, as I already knew him. Not for an LI though, at this point he was brother material to FemShep. As for Liara, I was mean to her in ME. Why she wanted to save me to begin with is beyond me, I was cruel to her. Alas, my LI ended up being Thane and well, we all know how that goes. I would have thought that by this time in the trilogy and it being war that Shep would need both physical and mental resolve to keep up the fight. So they surround her with people she doesn't really give a crap about and keep the ones who could lift her up on the sidelines or dead. No wonder she gladly accepted death plus it was the only way her romance could be concluded.

I hadn't even pictured it from the PS3 perspective... wow lol, that's even worse. I feel you on the Jack romance, she was my LI too :(.

@utaker1988 I could not agree with you more. I was also decently bothered by how many characters kept saying "The Normandy is your only love" when the choices I made prove that to be untrue. With just how much time is spent in ME2 doing loyalty missions and getting personally and deeply involved with the characters, one would think that the relationships would carry more weight in ME3.

Jack says something to the effect of it right before you get the choice to either break up with her or not. and I believe it's either Jacob or Garrus who also mentions it before this.
