I'm at the second part of the Rannoch: Geth Fighter Squadron mission, where you have to shoot the Reaper infection off the first data cluster, but no matter how much I shoot at the glowing areas, it's not breaking off the main mass. I've already shot all the infection tendrils, so there's nothing connecting to it. Anyone run into this or know how to fix?

I dont think it is a bug. There are some parts where you have to clear all sides to access the core. On others you have to shoot at other points to prevent the nearest glowing parts from regenerating when you shoot.

Well, I tried shooting at every part of the thing, but nothing happens. I've watched vids where the infected areas were shot off and cleared, but it's not happening in my game.

You're on the PC? Check the quest mark (V or M). I found some areas where I had to clear the other side of the room/virtual stairs to be able to continue. (not just on the spot where the stairs are blackened and you cannot advance)
If you think it is really a bug, (could be but the bugs I found in the game are of another nature, like the twisted neck on conversation cutscenes and stuff), try making a hard save (just to have it) and restart the mission. It is not that long.

I cleared the whole room, such that the stairs don't spawn anymore, and Legion won't let me go forward without cleaning up that first data cluster. I'll try restarting the mission.

I'm having the same problem as xenzen, I can only shoot one of the the reaper infection points off.
Edit: no one else has this problem? lol, Anyway I notice I can shoot parts of the infection off, but the majority wont come off, its pretty frustrating especiallly when no one else seems to have this problem.

Ok, I got an update. I managed to beat the mission but, a few of the reaper infection points are incredibly difficult to shoot off. For people with the same problem try shooting the infection from different angles until a part of it is destroyed and then switch to a different angle. Continue to do that until the infection is destroyed. I hoped I helped.

Started a new game+ playthrough, still having this problem. I've tried shooting the glowing areas from all different angles, and I still can't get them to come off.

Yeah, I've done it!!! I changed resolution to 800*600, and switched off anti-aliasing and dynamic shadows and now it works!

I tied! Still cannot destroy... I found out that if you shoot for a REALLY long time, eventually it will dissapear. But the part with self-rebuilding viruses it doesn't work. I am stuck and don't know what to do. I haven't been playin' for a week. T_T

imladrik's way works with me, and it helps on a lot of different bugs I encountered, any one who has the simular problems should try it.

Seriously, nothing helps. Changing graphics as said above doesnt help at all. No graphics changes help. It is just impossible. I cannot find information about this bug. Anybody, is there other ways of solving? Please?

I too am having problems with this bug and nothing I have done, including the suggested graphics changes has helped. If anyone has found a solution to this glitch, please shout out how to solve it.

EricPhail, try also going into Windowed mode, in addition to turning off all graphics frills and turning down resolution to the lowest setting. That's what fixed it for me. You may still have trouble shooting the infection off, but try moving around and shooting from different angles.
