... Because of "decide how it ends" adverts, because we were convinced in all three games that our efforts and choices impact story. Play high paragon - you can convince Saren to blow his brains off, get loyalties of your team - you can get everyone safe through suicide mission...

Mass Effect was always about choices and consequences. It's the essence of this series.

And it produced lot of effort for developers. They had to tune game so that it works well with various ways player played previously. Imagine how much work went into that.

So why in the end they betrayed that concept? Why in the end impact of all those decisions is meaningless. Why creators didn't have to think "oh how will we cope with such outcome of choice", because it really is true end of story, they did THIS? I mean save us "16-17 endings" crap. It's three, maybe three and half endings tops. But really it's just one with tiny modifications.

Why not let us REALLY "decide how it ends"? Why peace between quarian and geth is meaningless? Why EDI & Joker are meaningless? What wrong would it do to give player plenty of ways to finish this, bad, good, grim, hollywood, sad, happy...

Here looks as good a place to put this:

Bioware
Like a relationship that has endured for years and seen both wonderful and trying times, I owe you this message. The Mass Effect story has moved me so much that before the end I had to walk away from it just to break down crying, not even over anything specific in the game but just at how beautiful ME is. I could not use words to describe how wonderful this was, but now that I have seen the ending there is only one word to use: Betrayed. I feel betrayed Bioware.

Many others have articulated how the ending is just... wrong, better then I ever could so I will not complain. That is not why I am here. I am here to say Thankyou for the amazing years we've had together and the immersive stories you've shared with me. I will remember them always. But ME3s ending killed something in me, and I cant bring myself to listen to your stories anymore. Im sure they will be grand and I hope someone else cherishes them even half as much as I did.

You have permanently lost a customer this day.

And I have lost a good friend.

So much ^THIS^ it hurts.  I hate how the Star Child sequence crushed the essence of the entire series.
