I wonder how the BioWare writers are feeling right now.....

1. Dissapointed that the fans weren't satisfied with their vision for the end of the series
2. Regretful that they didn't have the time/resources/control to make the ending that they actually wanted
3. Angry at the fans for not appreciating their artistic vision. Angry because we don't have the right to reject their writing or demand a change.
4. Happy that they are getting a nice big pay-check and great reviews from critics. Fan reaction doesn't really matter.
Which do you think?

I'm pretty sure every writer that was there from the beginning wanted to make a second and third game that would reflect the differences of the choices of 1.

The writers must be feeling all 4 to be honest... who wouldnt be happy with great reviews from critics? But yeah, fan reaction does matter to them, im sure. On another note, the hate here really is going a bit overboard now. The endings could have been far far better, and fans have a right to be disappointed with the ending, but this is getting ridiculous.
That just shows that the endings are really bad. As more people complete the game and realise this.
Poll I read with 9k votes only 3% liked the endings as they were.

My experience with New BioWare is this will be the most likely initial reaction for the first few weeks (based on how they reacted to DA2's criticisms...it took them forever to even acknowledge recycled areas were a problem). I expect a stream of interviews angrily defending their decisions to come over the next month, and then once they start pimping some storyline DLC they'll acknowledge any mistake.

I never defended the endings at all, i despised them myself, but the point is, people are going just a tad overboard is what im saying. Claiming that writers dont care about what fans think and just care about the sales is ridiculous. They did a ****** poor job with the ending of a stunning 5 year journey and the disappointment is just way too fresh in everyone's minds right now

No no they are very proud and egoistic of their work of art. We are too foolish to understand it.
yea so #3.
I think that they must have actually made a conscious decision to end it like this. Writing must have ended a long time ago, so it's not like they just ran out of time and had to quickly submit something they hadn't finished. I mean, this was in that leak.
So for whatever reason, they thought that this was the right ending. They believed they were ending it the proper way.
Maybe there actually is some kind of significance to the ending that people just haven't grasped yet? Just a thought, personally I thought it was awful.

I actually think that the writers had stories fleshed out that were initially good, with initially good dialogue. You dont start out great and turn crap all of a sudden. Most if not all of these people have proved to us they can weave a tale.
I do however think that the focus has shifted from storytelling to "streamlining" the gameplay and "pew pew". So naturally the writing will take a hit. You try writing a story and making it with a consistant narrative if you consistently get cut off from actually telling a story, or if good writing gets "left on the cutting board".
I hammer the writers here just as much as the next guy. But in all earnesty, I have come to think that the writers actually tried.... But they werent allowed to deliver. At least not to the extent they could.

Well too ****ing bad since the ending disregards any choice you have ever made.BioJaegar wrote...
I think people on this forum need to get ahold of their **** and stop complaining. Mass effect is a great series- bad ending or not. I enjoyed the ride. Im glad the writers provided everything in between for me to enjoy. Whatever happens to my Shepard, whether it be the same for every other Shepard, I'll be happy with the choices I made and the adventure I had. Thank you, Bioware. There's at least one happy fan here.
