So, very much the same way I feel about ME3.
The difference being they got paid to end up feeling this way, whereas I paid to end up feeling this way.

It would be very interesting to hear a statement of the team, why they did choose such an ending.

No no they are very proud and egoistic of their work of art. We are too foolish to understand it.

Far as fanatical fans goes... Many people hated EA and bioware for shutting down Star Wars galaxies and releasing SWTOR but yet millions bought into the game anyhow and still a good number of active accounts remain. So they must know something of playing to fanatical fiction fans however many on these boards may disagree.

I actually think that the writers had stories fleshed out that were initially good, with initially good dialogue. You dont start out great and turn crap all of a sudden. Most if not all of these people have proved to us they can weave a tale.
I do however think that the focus has shifted from storytelling to "streamlining" the gameplay and "pew pew". So naturally the writing will take a hit. You try writing a story and making it with a consistant narrative if you consistently get cut off from actually telling a story, or if good writing gets "left on the cutting board".
I hammer the writers here just as much as the next guy. But in all earnesty, I have come to think that the writers actually tried.... But they werent allowed to deliver. At least not to the extent they could.
this is what I mean by #2. They weren't able to make it how they really wanted to.

I really dont know the specifics of writing for a videogame...regarding input and editing and whatnot.. but if it is similar to movie making...IT ISNT ALWAYS THE WRITER'S FAULT. There are so many hands going into the pot. scripts get written....rewritten...submitted....changes requested....rewrite...more changes and rewrites...maybe it gets passed from one writer to another ....it gets approved...director takes a look at it...new vision...more rewrites..more changes...producer gets ideas....changes..rewrites...director gets new ideas...rewrites....director fired...new director...NEW IDEAS AND REWRITES...so and so on. that doesnt include some dude from way out in left field going...well i think you should throw this in because it tested really well in another city...producer says cool....then the actors come and more rewrites...
AND then it gets made.....editing happens and stuff gets cut for one reason or another or a scene is moved to another point....

They don't care one bit what we think. All they care about is that they made a lot of money. Especially EA.
Not really, it's option 1 for Bioware and been here long enough to see that even if they mess things up or do something that we don't like they are option 1 about our disappointment. But your right about the EA part, EA cares only about money. Bioware cares about whether or not people like what they created but they always seem to make some bad decisions regarding what they "think" we want as fans compared to what we actually want. It's a bit like 2KGames in same sense when they used the XCOM brand to push a FPS and fans of the original franchise backlashed against them. 2K realised what they wanted was nothing like what fans wanted, in which case they had Firaxis create a second title TBS alongside the FPS, one which the fans actually wanted while also keeping the FPS in production for those who might want that.
tl:dr = EA only want money which is due to them being all about profit / Bioware is option 1. Dissapointed that the fans weren't satisfied with their vision for the end of the series.

Yea, I'm pretty sure it is this because if you do something and people don't like it you would not be happy.Nina88 wrote...
Call me naive, but I think the dev team including the writers care very much about such a massive outpouring of disappointment from the fans. I mean, wouldn't you? You spend years working day (and many nights) to make a game as close to perfect as you can, and let's be honest, bar the endings, the game is amazing.

The rest of the game so far, I've found to be very enjoyable personally, I just lost all desire to finish it.

Either they are feeling....
1. Dissapointed that the fans weren't satisfied with their vision for the end of the series
2. Regretful that they didn't have the time/resources/control to make the ending that they actually wanted
3. Angry at the fans for not appreciating their artistic vision. Angry because we don't have the right to reject their writing or demand a change.
4. Happy that they are getting a nice big pay-check and great reviews from critics. Fan reaction doesn't really matter.
Which do you think?

Yup pretty much exactly what i was trying to say. Theyve obviously worked hard on the game as almost everyone agrees that around 95% of the game is brilliant... they might have screwed it up a bit with the ending, but accusing them of only caring about the money and not the fans' reactions is silly.
Now, if they actually end up releasing paid dlc endings, ill agree
