On the Rachni

We find that no matter what choice we make with the Rachni queen, there is one in the game. One is synthetic in some convoluted loop for Reapers to create organics that they can then modify into their shock troops. The other option is the one we let live. The only difference is a few points different on the EMS scale at the end, being that the synthetic one betrays you if you let her live. Shocker.
I don't understand how they can maket the series as choice mattering when one of the biggest choices from the first game has essentially no impact. It's the clearest statement we get, among many, in Mass Effect 3, that Bioware was not actually concerned with the choices we made. To me the issue of the Rachni represents a failing in Mass Effect making the choices of the player truely matter. I feel like if they didn't want us to have any impact, they shouldn't have given us the option to make it seem like we would. If you want to take a fixed story approach, the silent protagonist like Master Chief or Gordan Freeman allows that without conning the player. The Rachni were conning the player.

Only thing I could think of to explain this is when the developers designed the Reaper-Rachni unit (forget its name) they were like 'oh crap, what if they didn't leave the Rachni Queen alive?' Resulting in the synthetic one you encountered
That's just bad writing.

"We wouldn’t do it any other way. How could you go through all three
campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending
that everyone gets? But I can’t say any more than that…" - Mike Gamble

So there's a Rachni Queen even if you killed the last one in existence?

Yes, the Rachni queen is there. The Reaper's create a synthetic queen so that she can make organic babies which then can then turn into their Reaper-monsters. Choices matter. Really.

Choice doesn't matter. If you saved the rachni queen you get rachni workers. Big deal. They don't even show up.

Yeah, sorry. That was a bit of dry sarcasm. I have a 4000 word post on what is wrong with ME3 haha.
