 Hi,

I'm currently being frustrated by crashes that result in blue screens of death shortly after I load up the game. One theory of mine is that the problems could be caused by the fact that the game is not stored in the "default" location.

According to Chris Priestley and others, my game should be here:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3

But on my computer it is here:
C:\\Users\\[Username]\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3

This means I can't follow instructions for things such as downloading patched versions of EACore.dll and awc.dll.

Is there a safe way of changing the location? Do I even want to? Am I on the wrong track? Help!

Are you sure that's not your saved games?

C:\\Users[Username]\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3 is where ME3 puts your saved games and a few configuration files.

'My Documents' is usually where the saved games and configuration files live.
My game is "D:\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Binaries\\Win32\\MassEffect3.exe".

The trouble is installation does a bunch of registry writes - so the safest process for you might be to uninstall the game and re-install it. If you downloaded it, I'd make sure the Origin settings file reflects the desired location. If it's from a disc - no big deal, just specify or choose default installation.

Hope this helps, sorry about the bad news of uninstall/reinstall.

Maybe, but I don't have anything in the first location (Program Files (x86)). I can see Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Origin, but no Mass Effect 3. What's going on?

Found it. It's here: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect 3. Is that okay?

Should I save the patched EACore and awc files to the analogous folders there? Any other ideas about what could be causing blue screens of death?
