Does paying 20g the second time affect anything?

Depends on the spec, if you play a dps warrior blood dragon armor is definitely not better than Dragonscale set.
Maybe not, but Warden Commander is better for dps than Dragonscale.

The second one IS Superior always, doesnt matter of paying or not.
Ok, here is how it works:
Wade can make in total 8 armors! 4 normal ones and 4 superiors.
1. normal Drakeskin(pay 10 g)
2. superior Drakeskin(pay 20g)
Ok, then you need the Dragonbones and Dragonskin.
YOU CAN ONLY DECIDE FOR ONE VERSION! Dragon-Skin-Scale-or Bone!!
Thats Middle-Heavy-and Massive.
The Middle gives you only 5% fatigue. The massive one 25, but much better armor.
If you paid the last time for the Sup. Drakeskin, then you get a Sup. Dragonarmor, no matter which one you choose.
The only thing thats unclear, is if you need to pay both times, or just the 2nd time for getting the best version.
I will find it out this weekend, i'll collect all 6 Drakeskins and the Dragonloot.
Then i will take all this to Wade and make them with Save/Reload. Stay tuned or try it out yourself

That's really the biggest problem. I don't see why he doesn't sell you anything anymore.Sarevok Anchev wrote...
But be careful: If you make the 2nd armor(superior Light armor) you wont be able to buy anything from Wades merchant. He becomes pis*ed off, so if you wanna get his 2 uber items....
The superior drake scale light armor is great. The fire resistance allows you drop fire grenades on yourself as much you want basically. It also has negative fatigue which makes it very nice for a rogue.
But I don't think the dragonscale armor is worth it. There are many, many other great and better heavy and massive armor sets. You'll soon find better armor. I kept in my backpack for a while, but didn't find myself needing it.

The dragonBONE armor is massive and AWESOME! Besides Warden-armor and Blood-armor its one of the best. Its better for Warriors with Shield, bc. they use more often their active talents.
^casw265: As i have read this, its important to pay it the SECOND time, so thats right before the Dragon-armor. And if this is realy true, then you will pay only 10g, bc. the price goes up IF you pay the 2nd time. So you would waste in compete 20g, not 10g for paying both times.

The second set is of Drakeskin is always superior, regardless of payment. If you pay the 30g total it gets you Superior Dragonscale armor after you kill the high dragon. It's considerably better than regular Dragonscale and is one of the better armors in the game; however, if you have both DLCs and only 2 characters to wear heavy armor, you can probably pass on it, as imo, blood dragon and warden commander sets are better.
or if you're playing like my last playthrough, with all Arcane Warrior - spec'd mages and plate melee, you need all the armor you can get. :-)

But, does that let you get the 3rd Dragon Armor set (High Dragon scales)?Faffnr wrote...
Again, you don't need to pay the second time if you paid the first time. Every time I pay only the first time and I always get Superior Dragon armor.

I hear the Medium version actually drops your fatigue penalty into the negatives.
Yup, I can confirm that. The Medium armour has a moderate fatigue penalty but the set bonus was -25% (!!!) fatigue. Considering that the Heavy and Massive version has only -10% fatigue, it could be a data entry error made by the coders.
For my female rogue Noble, my tank Alistair already donned the Juggernaut armour and I was fooling around with making Wynne an Arcane Warrior just so she could wear real armour. When I realised the medium armour actually grants a good deal of stamina/mana to the wear, I got Wynne to wear it. The 70% fire resistance is good too - I won't have to worry about her dying to some silly fireball mage anymore.
