I've just recently posted up a quick web-based talent calculator/build planner for Mass Effect 3 using "tooltip" data I collected from the singleplayer mode of the release version of the game.

I hope to expand this to include configurations for squadmates and multiplayer, but I just wanted to put it out there now and update as I gather more data from the game.

Browser Compatibility
Note that this calculator doesn't work in Internet Explorer 8 and below (due to the nature of the way I coded it). I will try to fix that in a future update.

Meanwhile, it has been tested and worked just fine for me in Google Chrome (latest version) and Firefox 10. You need to have javascript enabled for it to run.

More notes and stuff in this post.

Very nice! This gives me something to do until my Collector's Edition arrives Monday. My level 30 Adept Shepard needs to plan. Thanks!

Nicely done and thanks for doing this, but it does need the cap figured in to be of any real use.

I agree that the sp point cap would be nice to know. I don't know what it is myself yet, which is why I didn't include a character level indicator, but I hope to do so in the future when the information is more readily available. I read that the level cap is 60, but I don't know how many points are gained at any particular level.

Someone mentioned in the gameplay forum that they would be planning with a total point estimate of ~84 for singleplayer and ~120 for multiplayer. It might even be noted in one of the official game guides, but I don't have any of them to check.

I asked about cap in a different thread was told 181 for shepard, 90 for squadmates. Also shepard can get a bonus power so don't forget to add a slot for them.

Thanks for the numbers!

I am working on adding the remaining lvl 1 stat tables for Infiltrator and Sentinel as well as bonus powers at the moment and hopefully I should be rolling something out with respect to that by tomorrow.

Lvl 20 with 84 points (1 point already spent + 83 from leveling) is the cap for MP, according to ME3 Wiki. The combinations of species and skills might be a bit harder to put in the planner, but i think it can still be done.

btw nice work so far

Sorry that it has been a while since I updated the calculator (been keeping busy!) but I'm currently rolling out the second iteration of it, which adds the ability to include a bonus power of your choice in your builds.

Existing build urls should still work fine.

Rank-based stat changes are more visible now, denoted with a green numeric difference value in parentheses so that it is easier to see at a glance what will change at each power rank, in the stat table.

I'm still filling in the rank data for the bonus powers, which are taken from a lvl 50+ soldier. Keep in mind that the stat numbers are relative to your gear, so definitely take them with a grain of salt. Carnage and Marksman are transcribed so far, more to come shortly.

Once that is done, I'll post the changelog.

Update #2: Just rolled out version alpha 3, which adds the ability to create multiplayer builds with the calculator/planner. (You can select "singleplayer" or various "multiplayer" power configurations from a second drop down menu after you've picked a class.)

Thanks so much for this tool :-)

Is there a kind of summary of the improvements for certain build paths? To evaluate which one gives the fastest power cool-downs for example. I would be interested in building character that way, not "bottom up" like the in-game tool. Can your tool help me with that? Thanks for any advice!

You're welcome!

Currently, I don't think the tool helps you in the way that you're describing. I hope to flesh out some of these features more in upcoming versions, but right now, the closest things it does to what you want:

1. Hovering over the power name to the left of its rank boxes will display a basic summary of your current investments, however, it is indeed very basic at this stage. I would like to flesh it out more to be more helpful about choosing build paths, possibly by adding more relevant stats to the stat tables than what is listed in-game, and by adding the cumulative stat table values to that summary display.

2. Unlike the in-game tooltips, the stat table values are cumulative at every rank/upgrade. So it will add in all the values from ranks 1-3 as well as any upgrade choices you've selected in previous ranks up to the rank you hover. So, hovering over the Rank 6 button will show you the cumulative stat table values up to, and including, rank 6.

Just curious, has anyone unlocked the new multiplayer characters yet and are willing to take screenshots of the ability upgrades (preferrably at lvl 1, but frankly, doesn't matter at this stage) for me to add to the calculator?

Just because I just found this, bump for great justice. Doesn't have the Resurgence pack races yet, but it's still very helpful for planning out SP builds.

Nevermind, my browser was acting up. Problem solved.

If you are still working on it, you might want to implement a power recharge bonus calculator into it (weight cooldown bonus and custom armor parts bonus too (Rosenkov)).
