No matter what happened to Shepard in the end, I enjoyed the ride. I enjoy the Mass Effect universe. I hope they make more games set in the universe. And I hope that for the love of God that people recognize the game as the conclusion one of the greatest games ever created.

Here's to you, Bioware. Good job, and thanks for your hard work.

I have to admit, I still loved the game, it just that the end, with the Catalyst, made everything pointless.

No.

This is like Star Wars if they took out the ending parade(s) and just had Luke die and not tell you what happened to everybody else or the galaxy...

1.) How they handled Tali's face
2.) How they wrapped the endings up by not telling you what happened to/with who and what races.

Those 2 are the big problems.

No, this is like Star Wars after they released episodes 1-3.

Yeah, I was annoyed with how they just showed a "picture" of Tali, I mean there was plenty of chances for them to show her without her mask! So why back out of it now?

And I agree, they should've done like a slide show or something that talked about what happened short-to-mid term afterwards. I mean, did the Geth and Qurians really find peace? Did the Krogan really turn a new leaf? Did the Turians/Salarians make amends with the Krogan?  Did the Batarians culture change? Is there still a fued between the Batarians and Humanity? Heck, have the races create a new way to traverse the galaxy afterwards?

I really think that had they shown what happened afterwards, we wouldn't be seeing a backlash of this magnitude taking place. I can accept Shepard sacrificing his/her life to save the current races of the galaxy without really questioning the Catalyst. But what I can't accept is the lack of closure.

Many people here seem to think that because you pay for a product your entitled to have it YOUR way, thats not how it works. They followed there creative vision of the trilogy and wrapped it up in a horrible way, all we can do is hope they retcon it after seeing the fan base in an uproar.

But that wont change the fact that they put 5 years of work into this, and we all enjoyed the journey but not the last minutes of the final game, im in the same boat as all of you in thinking that the end ruined everything, but im still happy I got to experience the journey of commander Shepard and his crew.

We can all appreciate the trilogy cant we? Sure its all destroyed by the ending but it still wont change WHY we feel like this. You cant thank bioware for making you feel this way for a video game? If I didnt care about the game I wouldent be here posting **** the ending posts in all the threads or even congratulating them on a great trilogy, I doubt you guys would be here if that was the case aswell.

Man up and admit that they got everything right except the ending, thank them for what they did right and let the journey sink in.

Regardless of how it ended, Thank you bioware!

If bioware had made a mediocre game with a forgettable cast of characthers noone would have cared about the horrible ending but now bioware succeeded in making a belivable universe with good characthers that we all now know and love. That feat is commendable in todays market.

This is true. Because we connected to the story and the characters, the complete and total braindeath of that universe in the last five minutes is a huge buzzkill.

Bioware is the studio I hold the most respect for due to all the great games they have made.

This is spoken in present tense?

Thank you bioware the journey has been amazing.

That's not quite true. Imagine we're taking a road trip from the East Coast, and Bioware is driving. We see amazing things, meet amazing people, fall asleep every now and then, but always wake up when we reach the next sight. When we reach the Grand Canyon, we are a little confused, since this seems a little contrived, but we roll with it, since every experience thus far on the roadtrip has been fantastic. Bioware calmly and intentionally drives the car off the cliff, and plunges us all into the canyon wall. If you read that in a newspaper, would you consider our journey amazing, or question the driver's sanity?

Sometimes, the end is all that really matters.

I must respecfully disagree.

The ending really honestly and totally that bad.  It tainted my previous enjoyment of the game and series profoundly, the games have zero replay value as is.

Before I actually experienced the ending, I would have agreed with the people who insist on flinging the insults.  Agreed that people were being crybabies over something that was only a game.

Having experienced it, I realize the joy of the journey can be obliterated by the destination.

It was almost successful... It's a shame that the last 20 minutes can ruin a great franchise.

yea same here.

they built up so many emotions over the trilogy... esp ME3 was really sad IMO with former squadmates dying etc... but to have Shepard die at the end was just horrible. the whole idea of Shepard was "keep on fighting, we can make it out alive!"

but then she just dies or is separated from her squad (what the hell happened there? Kaidan was right outside of the beam... why wouldnt he follow me in? why would he leave and go to the Normandy?)

the ending was ridiculous and unacceptable

No. I loved ME 1. I enjoyed ME 2. I was loving ME 3 up until the last 10 minutes or so. I spent over 300 hours on each game, I had around 5 or 6 play throughs lined up for ME 3 and now.. I can't even play it knowing that all that work will end in Shepard dying no matter how hard I tried to prevent it, or something as equally disappointing. It doesn't matter at this point how amazing the journey was, it wasn't a good destination. Plus, sequel, DLC, it doesn't matter unless they fix the ending, I just.. I don't know, I've never been so let down in my whole life over, but maybe I'm over reacting.

I will say, however, congrats, Bioware, for making me see that you can ruin something so beloved, my favorite Science fiction universe in a matter of minutes, because that's something, I guess.

Sorry i just can't bring myself to congratulate Bioware. I played through ME1 and 2 about 10-15 times each. I figured id do the same for ME3. Then go back and replay all 3. And that was the plan until about the final 15 minutes. Now, i really couldn't care less about the series as a whole anymore.

As said in earlier posts, these endings give the series as a whole zero replay value anymore.

Did Lebron James get thanked last year after having a great year but failing terribly in the 4th quarter of the finals? Did Tom Brady get thanked after the Super Bowl we he and his time could not score those final points to put them over of the top?

Nope ...

So guess what Bioware is no different they botched the ending of the trilogy so badly that is minding numbing. So no they are not getting thanks or huge amounts praise.

Good Game right until then but then they messed up sad that is sours the rest of the game and for as amazing at is it.

The game is absolutely amazing, and the whole trilogy is ground-breaking. One of the best rpg games out there. That said the ending leaves a sour taste with many people as its the final moment in the series and its the last thing many will remember about the series.

Would have been an amazing trilogy..... if they had not destroyed everything they worked for in the last 5-10 min of the game. :/

That would imply that the trilogy was a satisfying experience from start to finish.... And Mass Effect's finish was anything but satisfying.

I can't. If Lucas messed up the ending of his original SW trilogy like this, would you congratulate him? If Tolkien gave us an ending to the LOTR that was full of inconsistencies and devoid of resolutions, would you congratulate him? If you can, then you're either very forgiving or you didn't really care about the work.

Why do people say the last 20 minutes were bad? I thought the ending was ok right up to the confrontation with TIM and subsequently the talk with Anderson. It was the final 5 minutes more like.

Inaccurate to say that I loved the trilogy since I haven't played the first one but I really enjoyed the 2 games that I did play. They were a near perfect synthesis of narrative and gameplay. I enjoyed them as much as the best books/movies/TV series that I have experienced, and that is saying a lot since gaming is probably the least of my broad interests.
