Ok in my second playthrough I am going fot the 4000+ EMS rating and choosing kill the reapers so Shep survives. The Geth in the immidiate area are toast but hey artificial life sucks then you die. The Geth back on the Quarian home planet are fine because they had to come up with a technology to protect themselves from Reaper influence, and anything that the Reapers do. So they are safe in their home system, catalyst was wrong. BAM! Stupid catalyst. EDI also made it because she has yet to reach true self awareness and thus is not yet truely "alive". BAM! Stupid catalyst. She gains true self awareness and "life" soon after seeing what all the hardship and sacrifice was all about. After Shep gets teleported to the Citadel Harbinger gets all kinds of mad because he didn't stop the Almighty Shep. So in a futile attempt to asuage his anger he goes after Shep's squadmates who were blown free of the beam that almost got Shep. They retreat and call in the Normandy, who opens up with those super guns it got in ME2 and stuns Harbinger. The swoops in and picks up Shep's squad mates. Shep's crew knows that they can't get to the Citadel at this point, but Shep made it so they know it's in the best hands it can be in, so they do the next best thing. Reek unholy vengance on Habinger. They lure him into space and after he takes out a couple of Geth dreadnoughts (the Geth are screwed in a few anyway) they realize that they need to pull Harbinger away from the battle to finish the big guy off. Joker pulls the big guy away from the fleet and lets out some of that pent up anger on him. Well Harbinger, being the biggest and baddest reaper aint gonna let some organic take him out. Before the Normandy finishes him off he shouts "You shall know pain!" and self destructs. Joker kicks it into FTL and beats feet away from the incredible blast that was the Harbinger. BAM! Stupid Harbinger. He almost makes it but gets caught in the aftershock and crash lands on a nearby planet. As they are going down they here the reports that the Reapers are defeated. It took a little longer than expected because Shep passed out for a little while. After the crash they get out and amazingly there are minimal casualties. They aren't that far off so they set a distress beacon and get out for some fresh air while they wait for pick up.
About this time a rescue team is sent to what's left of the Citadel to see what happened to Shep and Anderson. They find Shep under a pile of rubble bearly breathing but alive. And amazingly they find Anderson and are able to
resuscitate him. Both are rushed to the nearest medical frigate.
Shep wakes up a month later in a bed next to Anderson's bed and his bro Garrus by his side. His LI (Tali) left an hour ago to meet with the Admiralty board but she leaves 'em hanging cause she needs to come see Shep. All his main crew come by to visit over the next few days except Vega who died by being crushed by a brute he had just ripped the head off of (I'm not a big fan of Vega). In a few weeks Anderson and Shep attend the opening of the war memorial on Earth and give epic speeches. Earth is now ground zero for the rebuilding of a new galactic civilization. The new folks in charge actually know what they are doing. Thank goodness the Council died on the Citadel, they would have screwed everything up. Tali is sad that she won't get to see her homeworld for a while but it was a bit anti-climactic anyway. Shep and Tali decide to retire, adopt some war orphans, and move to a nice little place in the hills. Fast forward a few years and we see Shep, Tali, and Garrus getting off a ship on Tuchanka and wave at Wrex and Eve in the distance. As they get off the loading ramp they get charged by a small hoard little krogan screaming "Uncle Shepard!" Shep and crew would never miss Wrex's oldest son, you know Mordin's right of passage.
*Fade to Black*
Sure it is a stretch, has some plot holes, and is cheesy. But you got to work with what you are given.
