When you confront Connor's demon in the Fade. I believe your main character has to be a mage, as it's unlocked in a dialogue tree.

You know after the zombie fight in Redcliffe? You get to chose between letting Jowan perform a blood ritual which sacrifices Connors mom in order to send someone into the fade...
Here's how it works:
Your main character HAS to be a mage...
Doesnt matter wether you use the mage towers help or Jowans ritual..either works...
As you enter the fade, you beat 'connor' 3 times...on 4th time, the desire demon will reveal herself and propose a payment in exchange for her being let to live, and she'll come back when connor is adult, and claim that which is hers...his life. She'll offer:
Love: Everyone in your group will like you
Desire: You have sex with the desire demon(they just kiss...the lamest thing in my opinion)
Power: You get 1 point to spend on talents(Like flurry or pommel strikes)
Knowledge: The blood mage specialization.

If you have a save point just before there, you can reload it, unlock the spec, then go back to your most recent save and it will be unlocked.

unforunately I don't have a save point before that part -.- "sigh" does this mean I have to reroll my mage?

Is this really the only way to get the Bloodmage spec. or are there other options still?
I really want Morrigan to get this spec. but my main character isn't a mage. Isn't there a Bloodmagic book I can buy or find?

It might be worth it to go back to your last save anyway, if you really want BM.Darkvoider wrote...

I reverted back a little over 3 hours of gameplay to get it for my current mage play through, and while that was kind of a pain it was worth it in the long run overall to have my AW/BM instead of spirit healer or shape shifter with the AW.
As far as I've seen in all my researcing on the topic - the deamon is the ONLY way to get BM. No tomes etc you can buy.
If you don't want to have made a deal with her in your story line though, you can save just before entering the fade, unlock it & then revert to your save, because it remains unlocked for all saves once you've unlocked it.

Makes me sad that you have to be a Mage as the PC. Didnt we see Morrigan using blood magic somewhere? I thought she could pick up the specialization for you, but it seems that is not the case.
Desire Demoness was done really well, she is a hottie, too bad Morrigan was being her typical 'I wont even think about being sexual with a woman' (hardline staighty) so if you use her there isnt much exchange of chat between them, sadly.

Seriously, anyone know if there is a BM book and where I can find it? Recliff is WAY in the past for me now, and my PC wasn't a mage so no point in reloading unless I just restart, which I really don't want to have to do (takes ~5 - 7 hours to finish Lothering, already started over twice)

There is rumoured to be a point where you can get it off some blood mages in Denerim... but I doubt the validity of such a rumour.
Personally one of the best points in the game was when my Mage threw the Demon's offer back in it's ugly face and demanded that she give him the knowledge, leave the kid and p1ss off or he'd crush her flat. She basically deflated and handed over the lot

hi you cna, if non mage get the blood orgins, for rougue and warroir, the gam reccomds it as i ue it to compete borken cicle with the blood mage contaion. tod o this create a shortcut on destop of the dragon age exe, then click portiyers on the shortcut and at the end of exe leave a space and but -enabledeveloperconsole".
then start the game, and runscriipt addtalents 4017, and then the blood mage orginsw will be on your carcters record, and the game still does not class as a mage so it should not effect the game a all.
hope thsi helps of our to get the blood mage though you cannot use it, you will still be classed as a blood mage even when your not a mage. only have use the blood mage for non mages only on pc, otherwise you have to be a mage and have to make the demon with connars demon, if you high stuff indatiom skill you cna get her to leave connaor and still get a reward.

Sadly, without using other methods like the console mentioned above, interacting with the Desire Demon is the only way to unlock Blood Mage in an Origins playthrough.
There is another in-game option not mentioned here. It's to start a game of Awakening, head to the Crown and Lion tavern in Amaranthine when one can, and purchase the Blood Mage manual from the barkeep.
And I suppose one could also create a mage character for the sole purpose of going to Redcliffe after Lothering to unlock Blood Mage.

Do specializations unlocked in Awakening unlock in Origins?

AFAIK, yes, they do -- at least for unlocking Blood Mage and Reaver in Awakening. Awakening specific specalizations aren't available in Origins without modding.
I unlocked Blood Mage in Awakening by buying the manual from the tavern's barkeep. My first character wasn't a mage and so couldn't unlock it in Origins. Opening up a previous Origins save, Blood Mage was available for mages. Any specializations unlocked in Origins carry over to Awakening, too. It would appear that the game only checks to see if the specialization is unlocked, regardless of how it was unlocked. No patch has changed this, so being able to use the manuals for unlocking Blood Mage and Reaver is probably intentional.
