Remember how Fallout 3 had a bad ending, then paid DLC was released to amend it?

I shouldn't have to pay for a satisfying ending.

The issue at hand is that Bioware just discarded ME1 and ME2. Fallout had an "okay" ending, not an ending that makes you wonder why you played through ME3.

Blame hardcore gamers for spending a fortune on their games.

No.

It wasn't released to amend the ending. It was necessary to keep the main character alive because the DLC were basically post-game DLC.
That was the reason. Not that they wanted to amend anything.

Yep, you shouldn't. But you will. We both know it, if they release a DLC pack fixing that abomination  the majority of game owners will buy it. Such DLC would practically be a guaranteed profit. I wouldn't be surprised if that was EA's intention from the begining - make endings a bad joke and then charge for the fix... remember the whole thing with treatment of Liara in ME2? Screwed up bad, then fixed with a DLC players gladly and gratefully bought?

Funny, what kind of ideas can mind filled with all-consuming hatred conjure...

I actually liked the FO3 ending. You had a "renegade" and a "paragon" option.

^Thats why I don't like cannon DLCs, if it happens whether I buy it or not, might as well just watch it on youtube.

At this point, I think they'll pretty much have to. It's starting to get noticed outside this forum.

You don't climb a mountain just so someone waiting at the top can kick you in the balls and send you tumbling all the way back down. You certainly don't climb it a second time for the same treatment. How they thought this ending would give the game any kind of replay value is a mystery to me.

Huh. It's been 4 years, but I had thought the 'Broken Steel' expansion for Fallout 3 actually *did * have fan dissatisfaction with the ending as a major reason for its creation. Especially given how snottily the game treats you if you pick Fawkes to go into the reaction chamber. ;)

The ending for FO3 sucked because they half-assed the post-ending wrap-up.
Part of the cool part in the series was to see how your choices echoed even years after.
Then Bethesda was like, "herp derp u ded" -fin

Yep.

To me fallout's made sense.  Granted a certain character was just about the biggest douche in video game history, but in comparsion that ending does not have anything on Mass Effect 3's ending.

Fallout is different because it cut you off when there could still be a lot of game left to play. In ME3 by the end the game is already over.

FO3 had a good ending- in my opinion the Broken Steel DLC felt very artificial in how it was tacked on (although overall the DLC was quite enjoyable).

My problem with the ending was I had Fawkes stood 5 feet away. I can't believe they overlooked that possibility.

There was also the 'derp' ending which I ended up achieving after screwing up with activating the water purifier.

Agreed, what they did with Fawkes was a mistake, him being radiation resistant and everything. But I didn't have him with me in my game- it ended with an emotional "Goodbye boy, I'm going to miss you" to dogmeat. :(

When my character was randomly ressurected in Broken Steel, I felt somewhat robbed of an emotional ending. It would be like the Warden randomly 'waking up' after dying at the end of DA:O.

-Oh, year... That "feature". I found it amusing but not really critical. Oversight... a bad one to be sure, but not the worst kind.
