Remember that Shepard only survives the destroy ending.
Well, yeah. In Control, Shepard has to die in order to be the controller; in Synthesis, Shepard has to die because his/her DNA is being used; in Destroy...nothing really happens to Shepard specifically.

I'm getting a little pissy. Does anyone know if the 'Shepard lives' ending is male only? Because I've done two play throughs at ~5200 ECR, saved anderson both times, and killed the IM ones and made him commit suicide once. Seen the 'special' ending with the grandpa telling stories both times, but nothing about shepard.
That "Grandpa" is actually Buzz Aldrin btw... He's been in a few Sci Fi things recently (like Transformers: Dark of the Moon for instance).
I'm hoping that Bioware release a DLC that shows that Shepard was just dreaming that crap... This is currently Matrix Revolutions ALLLLLL over again. I could write a better ending sitting in my bathtub lol. I give the game a 9/10 up to the end (too many glitches and bugs for 10/10) and then after the beam hits I give it 1/10. The technobabble is totally bull excrement.
What really would have been good would have been that the Citadel was actually a generation ship from another galaxy and the AI onboard gets a wrong command (ie Azimov's Three laws... they actually would cause the AI/Robot/etc to put humans into padded cell to stop harm coming to them). Maybe make it that it went into hibernation mode millenniums ago and left the synthetics to go nuts.... The Crucible actually reawakens the AI and allows it to take control of the Reapers and dives them into the sun of every star system.
Oh yeah, and if Shep dies and he was male and romanced a female then he should leave a child behind... If Shep is female and romanced Liara then Liara should be preggers as well.
One question... how do you stop the shooting of Anderson then?

Well, there's also the red choice female Shepard lives for 3 seconds under some wreckage if you have a femshep.. But you realise that both of them are debateable on if infact, he/she is living or just some different type of dead.
EG Neomorph, you can't stop anderson from being shot. "Anderson gets saved" is actually "Anderson gets saved for a few seconds, enough for him to have a conversation, give a well done child, and then die. Heroicly. Very heroicly. And shepard will nearly cry. At least, femshep will nearly cry. " And, to get that, you've gotta have used a paragon/renegade option on at least 2 of the 3 times you've talked to TIM in the ME3 campaign. (If you got all 3, you get a conversation choice to make TIM shoot himself. if 2 of 3, and you have high enough renegade, you get to shoot TIM, as a renegade interrupt. Might be a paragon interrupt there, but hey, i clicked the left mouse button first.)

I hope there will be more data on this, because the endings, and a lot of ME3 as it is now, is a TOTAL letdown. I don't like how so many ME2 companions are trivialized, how pointless some options are, how you are forced by BW to play multiplayer in order to get different values and results and how the endings all were pretty much the same - no matter what Shepard died, Anderson died, what not else.. Maybe there will be different ending on second play time but as it is now, I don't even feel like playing it with my other saves because it gets just stupid and pointless at the end. ME1 was nice, raised the tension, ME2 got it even more up and ME3 was like "what the heck...? I wasted all my time with all of the games on THIS!?"
Well, if something useful comes out on these forums then may try but as it is now, it seems like a waste of time.
