If people can't stand the endings, it kills the replay value. Putting hours into a game, especially in this case, gives the player the expectation of an emotional payoff. When there isn't one, there is little to no desire to try again for an even better outcome. Our play time is an investement to save what we love, the galaxy as it is, and for some of us with Shepard still in it.
If everyone is feeling destroyed by the ending, how can they hope to sell any DLC? Why should I have any desire to go to Omega and fight off Cerberus if it makes no difference in the end? Sure I love Aria... but is it enough for me to keep playing? I'm not sure.
(I don't actually know if there is an Omega DLC, but it makes sense.)
What I'm getting at is if EA/BW patch the endings, giving people the actual choice to finish Shepard's story the way they want, which is what the game has always been about, they will sell MORE DLC. People will have hope again and will buy more DLC in the coming year. If they don't fix the endings, their DLC will fail because no one will be willing to invest the time into three guaranteed hollow endings.
In the end, fixing the endings means more money for EA and BW in the long run, and isn't that what they want?
EDIT: Please note i am referring to them selling more pre-me3 ending DLC.
