Voted. It was hard to pick some of those, but about as comprehensive as one could expect without getting too bogged down.

I voted, but the I think the part of the ending I hated the most wasn't any one concrete issue. (Though the disconnect, possibly clipped segment, where the Normandy picks up crew is part.)

At the end of 2, we'd have a sad ending of a 'burial' for the fallen. That's going to be unavoidable. However, there was also hope. The surviving crew ready to fight on. The degree of each chosen by your actions.

The ending looses relays. However, the best scientists and construction crews in the galaxy are together where they can rebuild one... and work on that should be shown being started. Again, how far and how quickly it's moving depending on your choices.

I can see why Liara, Jack or Ashley couldn't be pregnant, because it would be hard to give a similarly satisfying end to other romance options . (Other than maybe a flashback of Liara and his LI approaching Shepard to imply that scenario.) Joker activating a rescue beacon.

But it just seems to cut off at the sour note with no upbeat anything at the end. No real hope for the future is shown. It might be implied. But you could just as easily imply that the Rachni and the Geth turn on everyone else as soon as the Reapers are gone. The Salarians and Asari try to take over Earth, and all the Turians starve.

Good poll....

I feel kinda betrayed. Bioware promise us a true ending to this trilogy, instead we get these endings full of holes that leave more questions than answers.
And the sad thing is: i was really loving the game until the last talk with Anderson :crying:

After staying up till 7:30 am to see the ending i guess i was a little let down, I wanted to see Shep with with his love interest rebuilding everything they had lost, finally ready to love in a time beyond war and conflict, I wanted to see how All the choices i made were reflected in the final battle, (Geth and Quarians fighting together along with Krogans and Turians, Salarian and Asari). But that being said i understand the direction that bioware was going. This Era is over, almost everything we have fought to preserve is lost, Mass Relays, Advanced Tech, The Citidal, all gone. But one thing still remains. Life. Humanity and Aliens countinue to live even though it is not the way most would prefer. Shepard (depending on your choice - mine was synthesis) made a choice and sacrifice that no one else could. From day one Shepard would willing sacrifice his life to continue the existance of others. This is the one thin IMO that has been consitant in ME3's ending. I knew that from the foreshadowing before assulting the cerberus base that he was going to die. This was his dream and his own realization that this is the end, but he continues to fight on. Yes the endings are vague and not what everyone expects but i still feel it was artfully executed, it gave me hope that even though things are horrible, that life as we know it ceases the people who made that life worth living still remain. They can rebuild and they can continue to hope because Shepard gave it all that he had. In that perspective the endings were sufficient, sad, while leaving room for optimism.

But most concern seem to be focused on how choppy the ending was with the introduction of the catalyst as a "spirit or entity" incapapble of understanding the effort and focus that went into disproving that organics and syntetics couldn't maintian peace. To my understanding ME was never about the conflict of organics versus synthetics (geth mainly). It has always been focused on the war of preservation against the reapers, and the fact that the ending was centered around such a theme was incoherent with anything that was established. The ending fails to incorporate the general tone of the past three games (cooperation over division, life over revenge etc.) and goes off on a tangent not consistent with what we as ME gamers have experianced. My concerns with the ending in general is how the catalyst is such a plot breaker in that nothing i have ever loved or cheerished means anything to it. To it life is a constant battle (which consequently is partly driven with the so called "solution" of the reapers), it contradicts it's own methods by generating another comabtive force to wipe out combat overall (WTF). If the ending was meant to be like this i would expect a much more indepth discussion concerning the values of preservation and cooperation instead of a 5 min excerpt on how there are only 3 solutions to a massively dynamic problem. I liked that synthesis was the final evolutionary phase towards better life in a galatic environment but evolution isn't a drivign force to perfection. environments change ergo evolution changes. Reapers and the catalyst halt this change before it can even realize and force you to chose it's own static basis of evolution. AND THAT is the biggest flaw of the ending NO CHOICE (ALSO NOT CONSISTANT WITH THE ENTIRETY OF THE FRANCHISE).

However there is on thing that i find interesting to the ending that gives ME3 and excellent opertunity to redeem itself. Why was the catalyst the same child that shepard couldnt save? Was it appealing to him in some way? I can only speculate why the catalyst was in that form over another, but i hypothesize that the catalyst (as a spirit enity) never existed. The only time during plot line that we see the boy are in Shepards dreams of failure. This may indicate that this boy is a figment of shepard imagination due to his injuries. This also implies that there was never any elevator and never any choice to be made in the end (the 3 given choices were Shepards concpet of a solution and were not physically viable). Maybe it is just my hope that Bioware will improve on the ending that i foucs on the sureality of the ending, but i think that Shepard literally went unconscious and dreamed that stuff up. It makes sense that ur squadmate are seen far away from the conflict when they reallty should have been on the ground with you. Hopefully this is the case BUT if it's not then i would still consider ME one of the best gaming experiences of my life, i haven't lost faith in bioware, but thats only cuz ME1,2 were spectacular.

For what it's worth I voted.

I'd like to mention that after the disappointment of Dragon Age 2 and ME3's endings I'm probably not going to invest in another game from Bioware. All they had to do was include less than 5mb or so of -text- that explains what happened to your squad-mates and the galaxy as a whole.

Voted. This is thankfully an unbiased poll.

I understand the people who legitimately aren't satisfied with the endings. I really do. Ending such a great trilogy however, is going to be a giant task. Because expectations are high. For some of us, we don't mind the endings. More variety is cool if Bioware actually does it. Hell, I wouldn't mind them offering "post ending" DLC that allows people to have their happy endings somehow for those who completed it under certain conditions.

As long as IMO, people are civil about their agreements/disagreements, we're cool.

Why should Bioware care anymore? ME1 sold, ME2 sold and ME3 sold. I see why they weren't that motivated to make the people happy who made Mass Effect a part of their life. The way it is now, it feels like the cleaning staff from bioware were payed 10 bucks extra to come up with an plot for the ending in most likely under 10 minutes.

I sure hope they will fix it in an DLC. THAT I would buy (for a reasonable price) Other DLCs for ME3...very very unlikely. Why would I want to invest my time, money and feelings in something again that made me feel unsatisfied and even a bit sad in the end?

ME3 has no real replayvalue to me. For the combat and action, I can just play the (very very...small....thin...spartan) multiplayer. For the story itself? I don't know. Maybe I'll play it again...and just stop before the final mission...and then get my satisfying end from somewhere else...probably a player written end in form of a fanfiction. The game itself was pretty good, but the end destroyed all the good time I had before experiencing it. After seeing the ending I just sat in my room...for 30 minutes...not being able to believe that they want us to accept that as the ending of one of the biggest and greatest storytelling games so far. What happened to all the choices... to the people Shepard fought alongside? Why does Anderson gets so much screentime in the end and not Shepards romance? What happens to the rest of the galaxy? And and and...

I hope BW is making the right choice and does something about the endings. I think the people who care about the game deserve something better than a generic default ending shown in different colors.

*sigh*

Alright, I think I'm done with ranting and the likes. Lets face the hard truth - was there EVER in gaming history an ending that got redone? Not that I know of...

Voted. I realize some people wanted more explanation of everything, but IMO, that is what another series or DLCs are for.
I only experienced one ending so far... and unless I didn't realize it... the "choice" kind of seem to have been made for me. Depending on my actions perhaps. Will have to see, when I start my 2nd playthrough next.

But I got to say I was very disappointed mass effect 1 had the best ending followed by an epic song that just made it perfect.

Mass Effect 2 had a great ending no great ending song but thats a minor point.

3 The ending after all the emotional investment in the characters and love of the universe it was sad not to be able to see your squad see a conclusion to the romance that has been carried since ME1.

I can understand wanting to tie up loose ends and end the franchise but kind of ended on a low note.

Ending seem kinda rushed as well just didn't feel like a logical conclusion reaper wipe out organics to save them why not selectivly target sythetics or a large batch of warning sticks about the dangers of AI seems like a more effective solution then wiping out the galaxy.

DLC to improve the ending would be must appreceiated
