I am reading all of these perfect reviews for Mass Effect 3 and I am scratching my head. Its a good game. Its a fun game but the best part of ME 3 is multiplayer. The story was interesting and it kept me engaged but after beating it I did not really care about seeing it again. I played ME 2 like 8 times through sometimes right after beating it and doing everything in the game possible. ME 2 had me eager to play ME 3 but ME 3 simply did not keep me as entertained as ME 2 did. ME 2 had better missions, a better story, and the character relationships were a lot more interesting. As far as story goes ME 1 takes the cake but as far as the whole package ME 2 is really the best of the series. Anyone else agree?

Yeah, ME2 is still my favorite of the 3, it just resonated with me the most. ME3 is great and all, and I love the refined mechanics like actual weapon stats and mods, but ME2 was just the perfect package for me. It'd be great if ME2 had some of ME3's tweaks like the combat and weapon stats and mods. But yeah, ME2 is definitely my Empire Strikes Back.

Not by far, compared to ME1, but it is the best, especially with LotSB.

Only due to the ending of ME3. ME3 was far and away the best until you meet the Catalyst.

ME2 had the best and most rewarding ending of any game I've played (I'm not saying this as fact, I'm stating it based on the games I've played). Even when I've calculated it to make sure everyone survives, watching it all come together has me on the edge of my seat every time.

YA ME2 does have a lot more replayability, my only real complaint was how some Paragon/Renegade options took place.

ME1 has the best response options as it allowed you to choose either option most of the time and then it would let you pick a Paragon or Renegade response to the situation.

So sad, but so true. Gone in an instant.

Gotta agree with you guys on this one. I expected all the squad mates to return in Mass Effect 3, I was quite disappointed.

Yeah, ME 2 is the best of the series for me.

I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, though, so it caught me by surprise.

I loved ME 3 as well, until that ending. Now I feel differently about ME and that's what disappoints me more than anything. Everything just seems like a waste of time.

Mass Effect 2 had much better story-line because the writers managed to keep the balance between individual element and societal element in check. Mass Effect 3 had something building up, and it was good up to the Thessia, then it started to become unstable and blew up horribly at the ending.

Combine the rpg elements of 1 with the combat and character developement from 3 multiplied by the story of 2 and you get perfection

I liked ME2's ending a lot better than ME3, it has the kind of ending I wanted ME3 to have.

Maybe I'm the minority, but I didn't care much for ME2. ME1 to me was excellent, getting to Saren on the citadel was awesome.

In short:

I loved the story in ME1, as it was what made me fall in love with the series. ME2 was fun, the gameplay improved, but I thought the story was a little lacking. Well, the story was fine, but it definitely could have been explained/elaborated a bit better. I just didn't feel like I was accomplishing anything by the end of the game. However LotSB was fantastic, and Overlord was also quite good, IMO.

As for ME3, for me it blew its predecessors away in almost every aspect, and IMO it could be game of the year. I despised the ending, and refuse to accept it (or even play it again for that matter) but the rest of the game, the 99.5% of it was a freaking masterpiece. I still think that ME3 is the best in the series, as long as the end is ignored.

are you guys kidding me?

heat clips, no loot, no armor, talents completely sucking. NO INVENTORY, NO EXPLORATION

PLANET FRIGGIN SCANNING!!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?

no no and no. ME2 is WAY WORSE than ME3 gameplay wise 100%. mods and weapons teirs? better skills with better upgrades and MORE upgrades WITH deeper trees? forget you guys, ME2 was trash.

Im not even argueing story. but that story was set up for the dark energy plot. because that plot dint exist after ME2, ME2s plot MADE NO SENSE.

Saying ME2 is better than ME3 is a slap in biowares face.

Without the ending, ME3 would probably surpass ME2, but with the ending, ME2 is by far the best of the trilogy.

I prefer ME1 because it is more of a true RPG. ME2 has the most rewarding variations and playability especially after all the DLC. But I love them all for different reasons.....at least until the final 5 minutes or so...ughhh.
Now I'm just a whiner....

Story = ME1
Gameplay = ME2

The story was weaker in ME2 than ME1, but they refined the gameplay a lot and I liked the range of new companions.

I prefer 1. The leveling system in 2 was silly, left you with stranded points. Silly.

If/when bioware fix the endings, I would have to say ME3.
Until then, yes, ME2 is boss.
Just thought that the game was fantastically put together until the last 15 minutes.
