Mass Effect 2 is by far the best game of the series does anyone else agree?

ME1 has best plot.
ME2 has great connection between in-game actions and suicide mission
ME3 is incredible in it's grim mood, epicness, stakes, and choices. Right untill Catalyst says it's all for nothing and you have 3 stupid, similar options.

pretty much this, but overall I enjoyed ME1 and 2 equally. ME3 would have been my favorite if not for DAT ENDING....

That game actually rewarded you properly for all the time you decided to spend, every loyalty mission, every frickin ship upgrade. When I completed suicide mission without casulties, that was a huge payoff and so I played this game like crazy.
ME3 ending messed that game big time. I mean, it's not only sad, unsatisfying and unrewarding. It's plainly stupid. What the hell happend to Normandy? How come, Liara was on board (when I took her with me for final mission? ). Seriously where the hell are they now? If they jumped to other system and relays are gone, even if Shep survived they wont be able to meet in his lifetime.
And why the hell Joker run away like a little b****, when Normandy, the most advanced Alliance ship was to lead Sword forces above Earth? I mean it would be much better if in the end they landed in the heart of London, where the beam was instead of some frickin random planet.

I'd probably have to rank it ME1 > ME2 > ME3, because the gap between ME1/ME2 and ME3 when it comes to story and character development vastly outstrips ME3's advantage in gameplay. The ending to ME3, in particular, had zero redeeming qualities, and it's making it difficult for me to even consider doing a 2nd playthrough.

Gameplay: ME3, with ME2 close behind.
Overall it is tough for me to decide. I would probably say ME3 is the best game in the series, but only thanks to characters from the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Linearity of ME3 makes it a lot closer than it should have been. I would also like an explanation for the Normandy crash scene in the end of ME3.

I've enjoyed Mass Effect 1 the most, it was so fresh, so unexpected, and so magnificent in scope. And I did enjoy ME3 more than the second one simply for bringing in the war that we were prepearing for.

ME3 could have been, and should have been the best, but the ending was just so out of place and badly executed, that it acts like an anchor dragging down everything else I loved about the game.

are you an asari? because you just read my mind. This x10000000000000
ME1 had great RP elements, ME2 lacked this but was still good, ME3 minus the ending is their genetically manipulated lovechild who got the best of both worlds and then some.

Not for me. ME 3 is fun but imo story wise Ithink its the worst of the series. Still a great story but ME 2 was just an amaing story and ME 1 was an even better story with worse game play. ME 3 has better game play but it seemed really linear to me. Maybe its because I played as a Paragon so everything went "right" rather than pissing various people off.Hizuka wrote...

I actually liked the heat clips, didn't care about looting or custom armor and I really liked the talents in ME 2 also. I actually think ME 3 does have the best talents and I like the gun customization in 3 a lot more than ME 1's system. ME 2's story made a ton of sense. Collectors abducting humans to create a new reaper and Shepard stops them.John Locke N7 wrote...
are you guys kidding me?
heat clips, no loot, no armor, talents completely sucking. NO INVENTORY, NO EXPLORATION
PLANET FRIGGIN SCANNING!!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?
no no and no. ME2 is WAY WORSE than ME3 gameplay wise 100%. mods and weapons teirs? better skills with better upgrades and MORE upgrades WITH deeper trees? forget you guys, ME2 was trash.
Im not even argueing story. but that story was set up for the dark energy plot. because that plot dint exist after ME2, ME2s plot MADE NO SENSE.
Saying ME2 is better than ME3 is a slap in biowares face.

what makes you think they are going to fix the ending of ME 3? I don't even think its that bad to be honest. I just wish there was an option for a happy ending if you wanted one.Hellknites wrote...
If/when bioware fix the endings, I would have to say ME3.
Until then, yes, ME2 is boss.
Just thought that the game was fantastically put together until the last 15 minutes.

ME2 is the best part of the series as of now.
even though it lacks many RPG elements like inventory and items, but after seeing the redicolous endings of ME3 i simply can not say that ME3 is the best.
It is by far the best UNTIL you reach the citadel at the end of the game..... but then a child appears and kicks you in the nuts!

I loved the characters in ME 2. The only squad mate in the series I really dislike is Kaiden. He died on Virmire. I liked all of the ME 2 guys and even liked allthe ME 3 guys though Javik wasn't my favorite but I just found him to be arrogant and didn't spend much time getting to know him. I will start a new play through eventually though. I also did not like Edi getting a body. I thought that was cheesy as hell.tankarmarx wrote...
ME2 had too many characters I love and more to not consider it my favourite. Mordin and Thane alone would make it my top pick. But I liked the story and missions as well, plus it felt like it was grim, but still had a fair share of lighthearted moments that kind of took you out of the no-coming-back suicidal mission thought process.
Plus I thought the whole working with Cerberus thing was interesting.
