Hey there!

Ive recently taken an interest in Mass Effect and I think I need to upgrade my PC for Mass Effect 2 and 3.
Specs:

*Budget: Between 150$ to 400$

-Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q9550 2.83GHz
-RAM: 4GB (cant remember the brand though)
-System type: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating system
-Graphic card: Nvidia 9400 GT
-Monitor: 22 inch Acer x223w
-Power supply: Antec Earthwatts Model EA-500D 500W max
-Case: Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
-Hard disk drive: 465GB (now 280GB because I have many games and videos)
-Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L

I thought of changing my graphic card only (like a nvidia 570 GTX) because suprisingly, Mass Effect worked on almost the highest settings with very little lag.

Anyway, Im open to any suggestions!

Thx!

The only "weak" component is what you identified, the 9400 GT, which was a "borderline" card in between the basic business class and gaming class, back three and a half years ago. Today, it's only an ordinary low end business card.

The GTX 570 was previously overpriced, and could be beaten by a couple of less expensive AMD Radeon cards, and it is a decent upgrade.

It appears that my information had been out of date, sorry.

I heard the same thing; AMD Radeon cards have a better price/quality "ratio". But then I wonder why are nvidia overpriced for the same performance...

I was wrong about the GTX 570, sorry. They either are cutting their profit margin a lot, or made some major cost-savings.

nVIDIA has been forced by circumstances to keep on adding new complexity to grow their architecture, making it very large and therefore more expensive than the more streamlined design that AMD could pursue the last few years. Their bread an butter has moved out of PC graphics and into cell phones, tablets, and other low end computer related hardware, but they are also selling GPUs as massively parallel scientific CPUs.

It is that same parallel CPU market that means AMD's high end graphics is apparently going to start growing more complicated once again, but meanwhile, check the Toms Hardware monthly comparison of bang for the buck, here:
